Claims
- 1. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate hollow tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed solely and independently of a flexible sheet of material that is a laminate of at least two layers, wherein at least one of said first and second walls is outwardly convex with said body being self-biased toward an open condition to provide a spacing between said first and second walls.
- 2. The vane according to claim 1 wherein the laminate includes at least one layer that has diagonal dimensional stability.
- 3. The vane according to claim 1 wherein the laminate includes at least one layer that has diagonal dimensional memory.
- 4. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate hollow tubular body having first and second walls each having side edges, said vane also including, a longitudinally extending fold, and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed solely and independently of a flexible sheet of material, wherein at least one of said first and second walls is outwardly convex with said body being self-biased toward an open condition to provide a space between said first and second walls, and wherein a side edge of one of said walls is folded back onto said one wall to form a longitudinally extending flap that is secured to the associated side edge of the other wall.
- 5. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate hollow tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed from first and second interconnected strips of material defining first and second walls respectively, said first and second strips each having longitudinally extending side edges.
- 6. The vane according to claim 5 wherein one side edge of the first strip is connected proximate one side edge of the second strip and the other side edge of the first strip is connected proximate the other side edge of the second strip.
- 7. The vane of claim 4 or 5 wherein each side edge of each said walls is folded back onto the associated wall of said body to form a longitudinally extending inwardly directed flap and wherein the flaps on one wall are secured to the flaps of the other wall.
- 8. The vane of claim 7 wherein said other wall is flat and said one wall is longer than said other wall.
- 9. The vane of claim 7 wherein said flaps have an inner surface facing the associated wall of said body and wherein said flap is secured to said side edges of the other wall along said inner surface.
- 10. The vane of claim 7 wherein said side edges of the other wall are further secured to a portion of said one wall adjacent to the associated flap.
- 11. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate hollow tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed from three interconnected strips of sheet material each strip having elongated first and second side edges, two of said strips being wider than the third of said strips and defining said first and second walls of said body and wherein the associated side edges of said strips are secured together such that said third strip defines the divider dividing said body into two cells.
- 12. The vane of claim 11 wherein two of said strips are outwardly convex and a third of said strips is flat.
- 13. The vane according to claim 4 wherein at least one strip of reinforcing material is bonded to said body in the hollow interior thereof along said fold.
- 14. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate hollow tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said vane including three longitudinally extending creases formed in said elongate tubular body, so as to define a longitudinally extending indentation at one side of the vane.
- 15. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed solely and independently of a flexible sheet of material, wherein at least one of said first and second walls is outwardly convex with said body being self-biased toward an open condition to provide a spacing between said first and second walls, said first and second walls being of equal width.
- 16. A vane for an architectural covering of the type having a plurality of such vanes vertically suspended, said vane including an elongate tubular body having first and second walls and an upper end from which it is adapted to be suspended, said body being formed solely and independently of a flexible sheet of material, wherein at least one of said first and second walls is outwardly convex with said body being self-biased toward an open condition to provide a spacing between said first and second walls, wherein the first wall is narrower than the second wall.
