Claims
- 1. Apparatus for repositioning a bearing surface relative to a track having opposed, substantially parallel, tooth-like formation therein comprising:
- block means including first and second members of finite length having locked and unlocked conditions and opposed, substantially parallel, tooth-like formations adapted to engage the tooth-like formations on the track when said block means is in the locked condition;
- mutually engageable key means on each of said first and second members preventing relative pivotal movement between said first and second members for guiding said first and second members between said locked condition and said unlocked condition while maintaining the parallel relationship of said tooth-like functions on said first and second members;
- shift means for moving said block means to a new position relative to the track; and
- bearing means associated with said bearing surface and provided with at least one camming surface which is engageable with and acts along said finite length of said block means, said bearing means being movable relative to said block means to bias its tooth-like formations against said tooth-like formations on the track to create a locked condition.
- 2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
- belt means in association with said bearing surface for moving said bearing means to bias said block means into said locked condition.
- 3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
- spring bias means interposed between said first and second members for maintaining said tooth-like formations on said block means in engagement with said tooth-like formations on said track.
- 4. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 further comprising:
- means for moving said block means, bearing means and bearing surface out of contact with belt means, said shift means being positioned to move said block means only when said block means is out of contact with the belt means.
- 5. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1
- wherein said bearing means and block means have interlocking surfaces which prevent movement therebetween in a direction orthogonal to the operative direction of movement of said bearing means.
- 6. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1
- wherein said bearing surface is provided with a V-shaped reception surface, the combination further comprising:
- endless belt means, including a V-shaped engagement surface positioned on said bearing surface, said V-shaped engagement surface exhibiting a wider aspect ratio than said V-shaped reception surface, whereby wedging frictional engagement occurs therebetween.
- 7. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1
- wherein said key means includes:
- an elongated pin on said first member;
- said second member having an elongated blind bore extending transverse of said tooth like formations thereon for slidable reception of said elongated pin.
- 8. Apparatus as set for in claim 7 including:
- compression spring means received within said blind bore having opposite ends engaged respectively with said first member and said second member for biasing said tooth like formations thereon into engagement with the tooth like formations on the track.
- 9. Apparatus for repositioning a bearing surface relative to a track having tooth-like formations therein comprising:
- block means including first and second members of finite length having locked and unlocked conditions and tooth-like formations adapted to engage the tooth-like formations on the track when said block means is in the locked condition;
- mutually engageable key means including an elongated pin on said first member slidably engageable with an elongated blind bore in said second member extending transverse of said tooth like formations for guiding
- said first and second members between said locked condition and said unlocked condition;
- 10. Apparatus as set forth in claim 9 including:
- compression spring means received within said blind bore having opposite ends engaged respectively with said first member and said second member for biasing said tooth like formations thereon into engagement with the tooth like formations on the track.
