Claims
- 1. An apparatus for reproducing digital information from recording tracks of a recording medium in which each track includes a number of synchronization blocks each having information indicative of a track number and information indicative of a synchronization block number, said apparatus comprising:
- means for detecting a trace phase of a transducer based on the track number corresponding to a respective track from among said recording tracks and the synchronization block number identifying a synchronization block in said respective track;
- means for receiving a speed multiplication signal representative of a desired playback speed and for generating a reference trace phase in accordance with said speed multiplication signal; and
- means for producing a phase error from said trace phase and said reference trace phase and supplying said phase error to a speed control system to control the speed of said recording medium.
- 2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a respective track number is assigned to each one of said tracks cyclically every predetermined number of said tracks and said reference trace phase is generated cyclically in accordance with said track number.
- 3. An apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said means for generating said reference trace phase includes a cyclic counter.
- 4. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a trace phase of said transducer is detected every trace of said transducer based on said track number and said synchronization number, and wherein said track number and said synchronization block number correspond to the digital information last reproduced without an error.
- 5. A method for reproducing digital information from recording tracks of a recording medium in which each track includes a number of synchronization blocks each having information indicative of a track number and information indicative of a synchronization block number, said method comprising:
- detecting a trace phase of a transducer based on the track number corresponding to a respective track from among said recording tracks and the synchronization block number identifying a synchronization block in said respective track;
- receiving a speed multiplication signal representative of a desired playback speed and generating a reference trace phase in accordance with said speed multiplication signal; and
- producing a phase error from said trace phase and said reference trace phase and supplying said phase error to a speed control system to control the speed of said recording medium.
- 6. A method according to claim 5, wherein a respective track number is assigned to each one of said tracks cyclically every predetermined number of said tracks and said reference trace phase is generated cyclically in accordance with said track number.
- 7. A method according to claim 6, wherein said reference trace phase is generated by a cyclic counter.
- 8. A method according to claim 5, wherein a trace phase of said transducer is detected every trace of said transducer based on said track number and said synchronization number, and wherein said track corresponds to the digital information last reproduced without an error.
