Claims
- 1. A method of dispensing a volatile substance comprising the steps of:
providing a temperature variable heating element; providing a reservoir and volatile substance to be dispensed therefrom; and varying the temperature of said variable heating element.
- 2. A method of dispensing a volatile substance according to claim 1, wherein the temperature of said heating element is varied to about 49°-88° C.
- 3. A method of dispensing a volatile substance according to claim 2, wherein the temperature of said heating element is varied to about 54°-82° C.
- 4. A method of dispensing a volatile substance according to claim 1, wherein the temperature of said heating element is varied to a temperature which is greater than an ambient room temperature and less than a maximum heating element temperature.
- 5. A method of dispensing a volatile substance according to claim 4, wherein the temperature of said heating element is varied to about 25° C.
- 6. A vapor dispensing apparatus comprising:
a temperature variable heating element; a reservoir and a volatile substance to be dispensed therefrom; and means for varying the temperature of said variable heating element.
- 7. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said temperature variable heating element has minimum and maximum resistance settings in the range of about 0-95 Kohms.
- 8. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said reservoir comprises a bottle having a wick in fluid communication with the volatile substance therefrom.
- 9. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 8, further comprising a housing for engaging said bottle and positioning said wick proximate to said heating element.
- 10. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said variable heating element has a minimum resistance setting corresponding to a wick temperature of about 49°-88° C.
- 11. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said variable heating element has a minimum resistance setting corresponding to a wick temperature of about 54°-82° C.
- 12. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said variable heating element has a resistance setting corresponding to a minimum wick temperature which is greater than the ambient room temperature and less than the maximum wick temperature.
- 13. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein said variable heating element has a resistance setting corresponding to a wick temperature of about 25° C.
- 14. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said variable heating element comprises a maximum resistance setting corresponding to said heating element being turned off.
- 15. A vapor dispensing apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said variable heating element comprises a positive temperature coefficient thermistor.
- 16. A liquid electric vaporizer comprising:
a housing; heating means; means for regulating the temperature of said heating means; a bottle which engages said housing, said bottle having a wick in fluid communication with a material to be dispensed therefrom; and said wick extending into proximity with said heating means.
- 17. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means has minimum and maximum resistance settings in the range of about 0-95 Kohms.
- 18. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a variable resistance having a minimum resistance corresponding to a wick temperature of about 49°-88° C.
- 19. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 18, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a minimum resistance corresponding to a wick temperature of about 54°-82° C.
- 20. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a resistance corresponding to a minimum wick temperature which is greater than the ambient room temperature and less than the maximum wick temperature.
- 21. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 20, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a resistance corresponding to a minimum wick temperature of about 25° C.
- 22. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a maximum resistance corresponding to said heating means being turned off.
- 23. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a resistor.
- 24. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 23, wherein said resistor comprises a variable resistor.
- 25. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 23, wherein said resistor has a minimum resistance of about 0-10 Kohms.
- 26. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 23, wherein said resistor has a maximum resistance of about 20-95 Kohms.
- 27. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a plurality of resistors in series.
- 28. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 27, wherein said plurality of resistors have an effective minimum resistance of about 0-10 Kohms.
- 29. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 27, wherein said plurality of resistors have an effective maximum resistance of about 20-95 Kohms.
- 30. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a plurality of resistors in parallel.
- 31. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 30, wherein said plurality of resistors have an effective minimum resistance of about 0-10 Kohms.
- 32. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 30, wherein said plurality of resistors have an effective maximum resistance of about 20-95 Kohms.
- 33. A liquid electric vaporizer according to claim 16, wherein said temperature regulating means comprises a positive temperature coefficient thermistor.
