Claims
- 1. In a vehicle leveling system including a plurality of extendible and retractable jacks mounted to the vehicle and a plurality of manually actuable switches interconnected with the jacks for selectively extending and retracting the jacks, wherein movement of each jack functions to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of the jack, the improvement comprising means for generating an electrical signal which specifies to an operator which of the plurality of switches to actuate to operate at least one of the jacks to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of at least one of the jacks to attain a predetermined attitude of the vehicle.
- 2. In a vehicle leveling system including a plurality of extendible and retractable jacks mounted to a vehicle and a plurality of manually actuable switches interconnected with the jacks for selectively extending and retracting the jacks, wherein movement of each jack functions to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of the jack, the improvement comprising a signal for alerting the operator as to which of the plurality of switches to actuate to operate at least one of the jacks to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of at least one of the jacks to attain a predetermined attitude of the vehicle, wherein the signal comprises a selectively illuminable visual indicator located adjacent each switch, wherein each visual indicator is illuminated to alert the operator that the adjacent switch is to be actuated.
- 3. In a vehicle leveling system including a plurality of extendible and retractable jacks mounted to a vehicle and a plurality of manually actuable switches interconnected with the jacks for selectively extending and retracting the jacks, wherein movement of each jack functions to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of the jack, the improvement comprising a signal for alerting the operator as to which of the plurality of switches to actuate to operate at least one of the jacks to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of at least one of the jacks to attain a predetermined attitude of the vehicle, wherein the signal comprises a selectively illuminable visual indicator located adjacent each switch, and further comprising a level indicator for providing a visual indication that the vehicle has attained a level attitude.
- 4. The improvement of claim 3, wherein each visual indicator is illuminated to alert the operator that the adjacent switch is to actuated, and wherein the level indicator comprises a selectively illuminable visual indicator which is illuminated when the vehicle has attained a level attitude and when the visual indicators adjacent each switch are not illuminated.
- 5. In a vehicle leveling system including a plurality of extendible and retractable jacks mounted to a vehicle and a plurality of manually actuable switches interconnected with the jacks for selectively extending and retracting the jacks, wherein movement of each lack functions to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of the jack, the improvement comprising a signal for alerting the operator as to which of the plurality of switches to actuate to operate at least one of the jacks to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of at least one of the jacks to attain a predetermined attitude of the vehicle, further comprising an operating system interposed between the switches and the jacks for moving at least one of the jacks in response to operation of at least one of the switches and for cutting off movement of the jack in response to detection of a level condition of the vehicle in the vicinity of the vehicle in which the jack is operable to adjust the elevation of the vehicle.
- 6. A method of adjusting the elevation of a vehicle, wherein the vehicle includes a plurality of extendible and retractable jacks and a plurality of manually actuable switches for selectively extending and retracting the jacks, wherein movement of each jack functions to adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of the jack, comprising the step of generating an electrical signal which specifies which of the plurality of switches for an operator to actuate to operate one or more of the jacks and adjust the elevation of the vehicle in the vicinity of at least one of the jacks, to attain a predetermined attitude of the vehicle.
