Claims
- 1. A vehicle light, comprising:
a light source; a major reflecting surface reflecting light rays from the light source forward; a projection lens for converging light rays that are incident thereto; a shutter located in a light passageway from the light source to the projection lens for cutting off an unnecessary portion of light rays on formation of a light distribution pattern; a first reflecting surface located at a side of the major reflecting surface for reflecting light rays from the light source to a front area; a second reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source and a second focus, the second reflecting surface capable of being inserted in and removed from an optical path from the light source to the first reflecting surface by rotation; and a third reflecting surface including a first element having a focus substantially on the second focus of the second reflecting surface; wherein the first element reflects light rays from the second reflecting surface in a side direction in front of the vehicle light when the second reflecting surface is inserted at least partly in the optical path.
- 2. A vehicle light comprising:
a light source; a major reflecting surface reflecting light rays from the light source forward; a projection lens converging light rays incident thereto; a shutter located in a light passageway from the light source to the projection lens for cutting off an unnecessary portion of light rays on formation of a light distribution pattern; a first reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface located at a side of the major reflecting surface, having a first focus approximately on the light source and a second focus, for reflecting light rays from the light source to the second focus; a second reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface, having a first focus approximately on the light source and a second focus, and capable of being inserted in and removed from an optical path from the light source to the first reflecting surface by rotating; a third reflecting surface including a first element having a focus substantially on the second focus of the second reflecting surface; and a fourth reflecting surface having a focus approximately on the second focus of the first reflecting surface, and reflecting light rays incident thereon to a front area; wherein the first element reflects light rays from the second reflecting surface toward a side direction in front of the vehicle light when the second reflecting surface is inserted at least partly in the optical path.
- 3. The vehicle light according to claim 2, comprising: and
a fifth reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source, a second focus, and a longitudinal axis approximately across an optical axis of the vehicle light, including a first aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the first reflecting surface, and a second aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the projection lens; wherein the third reflecting surface includes a second element having a focus approximately on the second focus of the fifth reflecting surface and which reflects light rays from the fifth reflecting surface to illuminate a front area, and the second reflecting surface is located in a shadow region of the fifth reflecting surface when the second reflecting surface is located in a removed position relative to the optical path.
- 4. A vehicle light, comprising:
a light source; a major reflecting surface reflecting light rays from the light source forward; a projection lens converging light rays incident thereto; a shutter located in a light passageway from the light source to the projection lens for cutting off an unnecessary portion of light rays on formation of a light distribution pattern; a first reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus on the light source and a second focus, located at a side of the major reflecting surface for reflecting light rays to be incident to the projection lens; a second reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source and a second focus, and capable of being inserted in and removed from an optical path from the light source to the first reflecting surface by rotation; a third reflecting surface including a first element having a focus substantially on the second focus of the second reflecting surface; wherein the first element reflects light rays from the second reflecting surface towards a side direction in front of the vehicle light when the second reflecting surface is inserted at least partly in the optical path.
- 5. A vehicle light, comprising:
a light source; a major reflecting surface reflecting light rays from the light source forward; a projection lens; a shutter located in a light passageway from the light source to the projection lens for cutting off an unnecessary portion of light rays on formation of a light distribution pattern; a first reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus on the light source and a second focus for reflecting light rays to be incident to the projection lens; a second reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source and a second focus, and capable of being inserted in and removed from a first area in the vicinity of an optical path from the light source to the first reflecting surface by rotation; a third reflecting surface including at least one first element having a focus approximately on the second focus of the second reflecting surface, for reflecting light rays incident thereon to a front area; wherein the shutter includes a fixed portion and a movable portion which overlaps at least partly with the fixed portion, capable of lateral movement between a fully inserted position and a removed position relative to an optical path from the light source to the projection lens, and the second reflecting surface reflects light rays incident thereon to the third reflecting surface when the second reflecting surface is located at least partly in the optical path, while the light rays, which are incident to the first area and not reflected by the second reflecting surface, are reflected by the first reflecting surface to be incident to the projection lens, the projection lens converges light rays incident thereto in a forward direction; and the movable portion of the shutter is moved relative to the fixed portion together with the second reflecting surface such that a cut-off portion of the light distribution pattern is varied.
- 6. The vehicle light according to claim 1, further comprising:
a fourth reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source, a second focus, and a longitudinal axis approximately across an optical axis of the vehicle light, further comprising a first aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the first reflecting surface, and a second aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the projection lens; wherein the third reflecting surface includes a second element having a focus approximately on the second focus of the fourth reflecting surface which reflects light rays from the fourth reflecting surface to illuminate a predetermined front area, and the second reflecting surface is located in a shadow region of the fourth reflecting surface when the second reflecting surface is located in a removed position relative to the optical path.
- 7. The vehicle light according to claim 4, further comprising
a fourth reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source, a second focus, and a longitudinal axis approximately across an optical axis of the vehicle light, further including a first aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the first reflecting surface, and a second aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the projection lens; wherein the third reflecting surface includes a second element having a focus approximately on the second focus of the fourth reflecting surface which reflects light rays from the fourth reflecting surface to illuminate a predetermined front area, and the second reflecting surface is located in a shadow region of the fourth reflecting surface when the second reflecting surface is located in a removed position relative to the optical path.
- 8. The vehicle light according to claim 5, further comprising
a fourth reflecting surface including an ellipse group reflecting surface having a first focus approximately on the light source, a second focus, and a longitudinal axis approximately across an optical axis of the vehicle light, further including a first aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the first reflecting surface, and a second aperture through which light rays from the light source pass to the projection lens; wherein the third reflecting surface includes a second element having a focus approximately on the second focus of the fourth reflecting surface which reflects light rays from the fourth reflecting surface to illuminate a predetermined front area, and the second reflecting surface is located in a shadow region of the fourth reflecting surface when the second reflecting surface is located in a removed position relative to the optical path.
- 9. The vehicle light according to claim 1, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 10. The vehicle light according to claim 2, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 11. The vehicle light according to claim 3, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 12. The vehicle light according to claim 4, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 13. The vehicle light according to claim 5, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 14. The vehicle light according to claim 6, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 15. The vehicle light according to claim 7, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 16. The vehicle light according to claim 8, wherein light rays reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident to a vicinity of the focus of the first element at any time during movement of the second reflecting surface.
- 17. The vehicle light according to claim 1, further comprising:
a driving mechanism to move the second reflecting surface including;
a rotational axis of the second reflecting surface located approximately on a longitudinal axis of the second reflecting surface, a reduction gear disposed on the rotational axis, a pinion engageable with the reduction gear, a motor, and a driving axis connected to the motor for rotating the pinion; wherein the second reflecting surface can be moved between its fully inserted position and its removed position by operation of the motor.
- 18. The vehicle light according to claim 2, further comprising:
a driving mechanism to move the second reflecting surface including;
a rotational axis of the second reflecting surface located approximately on the longitudinal axis of the second reflecting surface, a reduction gear disposed on the rotational axis, a pinion engageable with the reduction gear, a motor, and a driving axis connected to the motor for rotating the pinion; wherein the second reflecting surface can be moved between its fully inserted position and its removed position by operation of the motor.
- 19. The vehicle light according to claim 4, further comprising:
a driving mechanism to move the second reflecting surface including;
a rotational axis of the second reflecting surface located approximately on the longitudinal axis of the second reflecting surface, a reduction gear disposed on the rotational axis, a pinion engageable with the reduction gear, a motor, and a driving axis connected to the motor for rotating the pinion; wherein the second reflecting surface can be moved between its fully inserted position and its removed position by operation of the motor.
- 20. The vehicle light according to claim 5, further comprising:
a driving mechanism to move the second reflecting surface including;
a rotational axis of the second reflecting surface located approximately on the longitudinal axis of the second reflecting surface, a reduction gear disposed on the rotational axis, a pinion engageable with the reduction gear, a motor, and a driving axis connected to the motor for rotating the pinion; wherein the second reflecting surface can be moved between its fully inserted position and its removed position by operation of the motor.
- 21. A vehicle light, comprising:
a light source; a projection lens converging light rays incident thereto; a reflector for reflecting light rays from the light source to the projection lens; a shutter located on an optical path from the light source to the projection lens, the shutter configured to cut off an unnecessary portion of light rays on formation of a light distribution pattern, the shutter including;
a fixed portion which is fixedly located, a movable portion which at least partly overlaps the fixed portion and is capable of lateral movement between a fully inserted position and a removed position relative to the optical path; wherein a shape of the cut-off portion of the light distribution pattern of the vehicle light can be varied by movement of the movable portion relative to the fixed portion.
- 22. The vehicle light according to claim 21, wherein, when the movable portion of the shutter is located in the fully inserted position, the fixed portion of the shutter forms a first horizontal cut-off line element located at a predetermined side relative to the center of the light distribution pattern, the movable portion of the shutter forms an inclined cut-off line element which declines to the other side of the predetermined side, and a second horizontal cut-off line element extending from the inclined cut-off line element.
- 23. The vehicle light according to claim 5, wherein, when the movable portion of the shutter is located in the fully inserted position, the fixed portion of the shutter forms a first horizontal cut-off line element located at a predetermined side relative to the center of the light distribution pattern, the movable portion of the shutter forms an inclined cut-off line element which declines to the other side of the predetermined side, and a second horizontal cut-off line element extending from the inclined cut-off line element.
- 24. The vehicle light according to claim 21, wherein at least the movable portion has a concave surface, and the movable portion can be rotated around a vertical axis.
- 25. The vehicle light according to claim 5, wherein at least the movable portion has a concave surface, and the movable portion can be rotated around a vertical axis.
- 26. The vehicle light according to claim 21, wherein movement of the movable portion of the shutter is dependent on one of a steering angle, and information on road conditions obtained by a car navigation system.
- 27. The vehicle light according to claim 24, wherein movement of the movable portion of the shutter is dependent on one of a steering angle, and information on road conditions obtained by a car navigation system.
- 28. The vehicle light according to claim 25, wherein movement of the movable portion of the shutter is dependent on one of a steering angle, and information on road conditions obtained by a car navigation system.
- 29. The vehicle light according to claim 5, wherein movement of the movable portion of the shutter is dependent on one of a steering angle, and information on road conditions obtained by a car navigation system.
- 30. The vehicle light according to claim 21, wherein the shutter includes a return spring pulling the movable portion to its fully inserted position, and a stopper retaining the movable portion in its fully inserted position.
- 31. The vehicle light according to claim 24, wherein the shutter includes a return spring pulling the movable portion to its fully inserted position, and a stopper retaining the movable portion in its fully inserted position.
- 32. The vehicle light according to claim 25, wherein the shutter includes a return spring pulling the movable portion to its fully inserted position, and a stopper retaining the movable portion in its fully inserted position.
- 33. The vehicle light according to claim 5, wherein the shutter includes a return spring pulling the movable portion to its fully inserted position, and a stopper retaining the movable portion in its fully inserted position.
