Claims
- 1. A bale cutting apparatus, comprising:a bale cut-off mechanism adapted to be mounted on a bale delivery vehicle, said bale delivery vehicle including control means for advancing a bale in incremental movements to a bale discharge position, said bale cut-off mechanism including a separator member for engaging a bale as the bale is discharged from the vehicle, and control means for selectively actuating said cut-off mechanism to successively separate portions of the bale to form spaced piles as the bales are discharged and the vehicle is moved.
- 2. A bale-cutting apparatus comprising;a bale cut-off mechanism adapted to be mounted on a bale delivery vehicle, said bale cut-off mechanism including a separator member comprising a motor-driven sickle-bar for engaging a bale as the bale is discharged from the vehicle, and control means for selectively actuating said cut-off mechanism to successively separate portions of the bale to form spaced piles as the bales are discharged and the vehicle is moved.
- 3. A bale-cutting apparatus comprising;a bale cut-off mechanism adapted to be mounted on a bale delivery vehicle, said bale cut-off mechanism including a separator member comprising a motor-driven rotational cut-off blade for engaging a bale as the bale is discharged from the vehicle, and control means for selectively actuating said cut-off mechanism to successively separate portions of the bale to form spaced piles as the bales are discharged and the vehicle is moved.
- 4. A bale-cutting apparatus comprising;a bale cut-off mechanism adapted to be mounted on a bale delivery vehicle, said bale cut-off mechanism including a separator member comprising a fluid pressure driven ram shear member for engaging a bale as the bale is discharged from the vehicle, and control means for selectively actuating said cut-off mechanism to successively separate portions of the bale to form spaced piles as the bales are discharged and the vehicle is moved.
- 5. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, control means for selectively incrementally advancing said conveyor transport elements to advance a bale engaged thereby in incremental movements to the discharge position, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 further including;a transport vehicle for distributing said bales, and means mounting said load-supporting surface on said vehicle, whereby said separate portions of the bale form spaced piles as the vehicle is moved.
- 7. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including at least one endless conveyor element and a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, control means for selectively incrementally advancing said at least one endless conveyor element to advance a bale thereon in incremental movements to the discharge position, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein;said load-supporting surface has at least one elongated cross-surface opening and the endless conveyor element has an upper run exposed to said load supporting-surface through the at least one cross-surface opening, and said upwardly extending conveyor elements include at least one cross-flight connected to the upper run thereof for contacting a bale resting on said load-supporting surface.
- 9. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member comprising a motor-driven sickle-bar for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 including;a sickle-bar support structure mounted for movement along the edge of said load-supporting surface adjacent the bale discharge position, and motor means for selectively moving said sickle-bar support structure and said sickle-bar across the path of a bale being discharged for separating portions of said bale during discharge thereof.
- 11. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member comprising a motor-driven rotational cut-off blade for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11 including;cut-off blade mounting means for mounting said cut-off blade at one end thereof for rotational swinging motion about an axis parallel to the general plane of said load-supporting surface, and means to selectively swing said blade about said axis across the path of a bale for separating portions of said bale during discharge thereof.
- 13. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member comprising a fluid-pressure driven ram shear member for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein said ram shear comprises;a fluid pressure driven ram mounted along the edge of said load-supporting surface adjacent the bale discharge position, said ram including a rigid blade having an actuated extended position located in the path of a bale being discharged and a retracted position out of the path of said bale, and control means for selectively actuating said fluid pressure ram for separating portions of said bale during discharge thereof.
- 15. Apparatus for conveying and unloading bales of hay or straw transversely from a load-supporting surface, the apparatus comprising in combination;a transport vehicle for distributing said bales and means mounting said load-supporting surface on said vehicle, a cross-surface conveyor system extending across the load-supporting surface and including at least one endless conveyor element and a discharge end, the conveyor system being located beneath the load-supporting surface and having conveyor transport elements that extend upwardly to engage a bale thereon and move it transversely to a discharge position at the discharge end of the conveyor, control means for selectively incrementally advancing said at least one endless conveyor element to advance a bale thereon in incremental movement to the discharge position, and a bale cut-off mechanism mounted adjacent the discharge end of the conveyor, the bale cut-off mechanism having a separator member for selectively engaging a bale to successively separate portions of the bale as the bale is discharged from the load-supporting surface, whereby said separate portions of the bale form spaced piles as the vehicle is moved.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 15 wherein;said load-supporting surface has at least one elongated cross-surface opening and the endless conveyor element has an upper run exposed to said load supporting-surface through the at least one cross-surface opening, and said upwardly extending conveyor elements include at least one cross-flight connected to the upper run thereof for contacting a bale resting on said load-supporting surface.
