Abstract
A seal for sealing a window having opposite sides and an edge at an upper end. The seal includes a sealing body having a receiving space. The receiving space has an opening leading out of the sealing body. The seal includes first and second movable sealing lips each connected at one end to the sealing body on opposite sides of the receiving space and bridging the opening of the receiving space. The first lip is longer than the second lip. The sealing lips move in response to being contacted by the edge of the window as the window inserts into the receiving space such that upon the window being inserted into the receiving space the first lip adjoins the first side of the upper end of the window and adjoins the edge of the window and the second lip adjoins the second side of the upper end of the window.

FIG. 3 illustrates a cross-sectional view of the seal and the side window inserted therein.


Claims
  • 1. A seal for sealing a window having first and second side walls and a leading edge at an upper end, the seal comprising: a sealing body having a seal receiving space, the seal receiving space having an opening leading out of the sealing body; andfirst and second movable sealing lips each connected at one end to the sealing body on opposite sides of the seal receiving space and bridging the opening of the seal receiving space, the sealing lips each having a free leading end, wherein the first sealing lip is longer than the second sealing lip;wherein the sealing lips move in response to being contacted by the leading edge of the window as the window inserts into the seal receiving space such that upon the window being inserted into the seal receiving space the first sealing lip adjoins the first side wall of the upper end of the window and adjoins the leading edge of the window and the second sealing lip adjoins the second side wall of the upper end of the window.
  • 2. The seal of claim 1 wherein: the first sealing lip further adjoins the second side wall of the upper end of the window when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space.
  • 3. The seal of claim 1 wherein: the sealing lips contact one another when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space.
  • 4. The seal of claim 1 wherein: a middle section of the first sealing lip includes a depression for accommodating the leading edge of the window.
  • 5. The seal of claim 4 wherein: the first sealing lip includes a tapered wall section which forms a predetermined bending point.
  • 6. The seal of claim 5 wherein: the predetermined bending point is on the end of the first sealing lip connected to the sealing body.
  • 7. The seal of claim 1 wherein: the sealing lips lie against the window along first, second, and third sealing contacts when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space, wherein the first sealing contact is between the first sealing lip and the first side wall of the upper end of the window, the second sealing contact is between the first sealing lip and the leading edge of the window, and the third sealing contact is between the second sealing lip and the second side wall of the upper end of the window.
  • 8. The seal of claim 1 wherein: the free leading end of the fist sealing lip includes a hook, wherein the hook of the first sealing lip lies against a section of the sealing body when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space.
  • 9. The seal of claim 8 wherein: the hook of the first sealing lip further lies against the second sealing lip when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space.
  • 10. The seal of claim 8 wherein: the section of the sealing body includes a receptacle cavity, wherein the hook of the first sealing lip lies within the receptacle cavity when the window is inserted into the seal receiving space.
  • 11. The seal of claim 1 further comprising: a support body introduced into the sealing body.
