Claims
- 1. A vent assembly comprising:
- a vent structure including a tubing of predetermined length and size, said tubing having an undeformed normally lower portion and a formed normally upper portion, said upper tubing portion being flattened and folded against itself, and means provided in said upper tubing portion for separating its opposing proximate faces to prevent sintering and similar closures thereof;
- air lock structure including at least one bleed hole therein; and
- means connecting a normally lower portion of said air lock structure below said at least one bleed hole to said undeformed lower tubing portion, said air lock structure and connecting means enclosing said formed upper tubing portion to provide an air lock chamber which houses the same.
- 2. The invention as defined in claim 1 wherein said means provided in said upper tubing portion comprises a relatively thin layer of small sized particles for separating said opposing proximate faces to prevent sintering and similar closures thereof.
- 3. The invention as defined in claim 1 further comprising a baffle provided in the chamber spaced between said formed upper tubing portion and said at least one bleed hole, for allowing free passage of gas while impeding passage of liquid matter.
- 4. For use with a source of gas, a vent assembly comprising:
- a vent structure attached to a normally upper portion of said gas source, said vent structure including a tubing of predetermined length and size, said tubing having an undeformed normally lower portion and a formed normally upper portion, said upper tubing portion being flattened and folded against itself and said lower tubing portion being adapted to be attached to said normally upper portion of said gas source to communicate with the gas therein, and means provided in said upper tubing portion for separating its opposing proximate faces to prevent sintering and similar closures thereof; and
- air lock structure including at least one bleed hole therein, said air lock structure being adapted to be attached to said normally upper portion of said gas source and enclosing said formed upper tubing portion to provide an air lock chamber which houses the same, and said vent structure releasing the gas from said gas source at a predetermined flow rate such that said gas source is maintained in a slightly pressurized state whereby when said gas source and its attached vent assembly are immersed under a liquid, backflow of said liquid into said gas source is prevented.
- 5. The invention as defined in claim 4 wherein said means provided in said upper tubing portion comprises a relatively thin layer of small sized particles for separating said opposing proximate faces to prevent sintering and similar closures thereof.
- 6. The invention as defined in claim 4 wherein said vent assembly further comprises a baffle provided in the chamber space between said formed upper tubing portion and said at least one bleed hole, for allowing free passage of said gas while impeding any passage of said liquid.
