Claims
- 1. Vertical gel slab electrophoresis apparatus comprising: a sample unit comprising, a pair of spaced plates, a pair of vertical guide means each having an internal groove for accommodating opposed edges of said spaced plates each of said guide means having at least one external horizontal channel, and a plurality of screw means in said vertical guide means for pressing said plates together and against said internal grooves; means for supporting said sample unit in a vertical orientation; longitudinal resilient sealing means interposed between said sample unit and said supporting means; said supporting means including opposed means extending from said supporting means for receiving said pair of vertical guide means, a pair of cam means mounted for rotation in said extending means, said cam means having an off-center nub which mates with said horizontal channel of each vertical guide means, rotation of said cam means pressing said sample unit against said sealing means and said supporting means.
- 2. Apparatus as in claim 1 including a pair of first vertical longitudinal spacers between said plates.
- 3. Apparatus as in claim 2 including a pair of second vertical spacers between a plate and said screw means, such screw means pressing against said second spacers.
- 4. Apparatus as in claim 1 where said horizontal channels are located at end portions of said guide means.
- 5. Apparatus as in claim 1 where said supporting means forms an upper buffer solution container.
- 6. Vertical gel slab electrophoresis apparatus comprising: a sample unit including a pair of spaced plates held together at opposed edges by a pair of vertical guide means each having at least one external horizontal channel; means for supporting said sample unit in a vertical orientation; longitudinal resilient sealing means interposed between said sample unit and said supporting means; said supporting means including opposed means extending from said supporting means for receiving said pair of vertical guide means, a pair of cam means mounted for rotation in said extending means, said cam means having an off-center nub which mates with said horizontal channel of each vertical guide means, rotation of said cam means pressing said sample unit against said sealing means and said supporting means.
