Claims
- 1. A vibrating tray weighing scale having a frame, a base attached to the frame by isolation springs, a tray connected to the base by flexure members, a transducer operatively connected to a flexure member to generate a voltage responsive to the degree of flexuring of the flexure member, conveying mechanism for transporting an object to be weighed onto and off of the tray, a mechanism for vibrating the tray, and a computing device for determining the weight of the article of the tray in response to the voltage generated by the transducer, this improvement comprising: said flexure members have a parallelogram configuration wherein two spaced, parallel flexible plates are connected to one another at both ends by connecting members.
- 2. A scale comprising:
- a frame,
- a base,
- a plurality of springs connecting said base to said frame,
- a shaft rotatably supported by said frame,
- an article supporting tray,
- an article conveyor supported by said tray,
- at least one flexible member having a parallelogram configuration connecting said tray to said base,
- a transducer attached to said at least one flexible member;
- a reversible motor,
- a first pulley disposed upon said shaft,
- a belt providing drive between said motor and said pulley,
- a one way bearing mounted between said first pulley and said shaft whereby when said motor drives said first pulley in a first direction said shaft is driven thereby,
- a cam mounted on said shaft,
- a link supported by said base and having a cam follower in engagement with said cam,
- a finger depending from said tray and engageable with said link, whereby upon rotation of said shaft said link interacts with said finger to occasion oscillation of said tray, and
- a second pulley disposed about said first pulley,
- a second one way bearing mounted between said first pulley and said second pulley whereby upon rotation of said first pulley by said motor in a second direction said second pulley will be driven by said first pulley, and said article conveyor being drivingly connected to said second pulley whereby articles can be conveyed across said tray upon rotation of said first pulley in said second direction.
- 3. The weighing scale of claim 2 wherein said link is generally L shaped with a first arm having a cam follower and a second arm in engagement with said finger.
- 4. The weighing scale of claim 3 wherein cam has a opening therein with contoured surfaces and said cam follower is received within said opening.
- 5. The weighing scale of claim 4 including a spring supported by said frame and in engagement with said shaft to urge said shaft in a rotational direction opposite to the driving rotation of said first pulley.
- 6. A scale comprising:
- a frame,
- a base,
- a plurality of springs connecting said base to said frame,
- a shaft rotatably supported by said frame,
- an article supporting tray,
- a plurality of flexible members having a parallelogram configuration connecting said tray to said base,
- a transducer attached to one of said flexible members,
- a motor in driving engagement with said shaft
- a cam mounted on said shaft,
- a link rotatably supported by said frame, said link being in engagement with said cam,
- a finger depending from said base,
- a leaf spring supported by said finger and extending between said base and a second leaf spring supported by said frame and extending between said first leaf spring and said link,
- whereby upon said motor driving said shaft said link will be driven into engagement with said second link to press said first leaf spring into engagement with said second leaf spring.
