The Victory Products were developed to aid and support people with limited conditions that markedly restrict one ability to function physically. This will give people the ability to participant and enjoy the sport of baseball/softball. Apart from aiding people to participate in the sport of baseball/softball it will function as a physical therapy instrument. The Victory Products are available for non-disability people as well.
Physical disabilities are conditions that affects a person's mobility, physical capacity, stamina or dexterity. The Victory products are mainly focused on MOTOR SKILLS (motor skills are movements and actions of the muscles. Typical, they are categorized into eighteen groups, but our focus is two GROSS MOTOS SKILLS and FINE MOTOR SKILLS.
GROSS MOTOS SKILLS (GMS): requires the use of large muscle group to perform tasks like walking, balance and crawling. These are normally early childhood disabilities which the sport of baseball/softball could assist in the developing of these skills at a more rapid pace.
GMS can be further divided into two subgroups: Object-Control Skills and Locomotor Skills.
Object-Control Skills (OCS): affect catching, throwing and kicking. The Victory products will aid people with limited disabilities in “catching” and control the ball in the glove giving them a sense of achievement and confidence. Once you have achieved catching the “throwing” part applies. Leg extension “kicking” is in tile basic motion of throwing.
Locomotor Skills (LS): effect running, jumping and sliding. Once Object-Control Skills are developed, Victory Products will continue to assist in motivating people with disabilities into “running” “jumping” after a ball in order to catch it. “Sliding” plays a key role once that advance skill is developed as this will include visual focus, running, catching, throwing, jumping and sliding.
FINE MOTOR: requires the use of smaller muscles groups to perform smaller movements with the wrist, hands, fingers, feet and toes. Generally, there is a retention loss of fine motor skills over a period of non-use.
In the sport of baseball/softball the bending and flexibility of the “wrist” plays a significate role in throwing a ball. The griping of a ball with the hand and fingers plays a major role in control the ball, but also on accuracy of your destination of throwing the ball.
