Video recording/reproducing apparatus and a television receiver including the same therein

Abstract

In a television receiver including a video recording/reproducing apparatus therein, since reduction is quick in a recording space thereof if recording the high-definition television broadcast signal as it is, even including a recording medium, such as, a HDD of large capacity, for example, video, audio and caption data are extracted within a vide extract portion 3, an audio extract portion 4, a caption extract portion 5 from a MPEG2-TS (Transport Stream) signal (TS=video+audio+caption data+BML (Broadcast Markup Language)+other data), but except for the BML data. And, those data extracted are recorded in a recording/reproducing portion 7.

Claims

1. A video recording/reproducing apparatus for recording transport stream included within a digital broadcasting signal, or recording the same with compression thereof, comprising: a receiving portion, which is configured to receive the transport stream of said digital broadcasting signal;an extracting portion, which is configure to extract at least video and audio from said transport stream received, so as to except data relating to data broadcasting included within said transport stream therefrom; anda recording portion, which is configured to record the data extracted within said extracting portion or compressed data extracted therein.

2. The video recording/reproducing apparatus, as described in the claim 1, wherein selection can be made for a user on whether caption data should be included or not into said extracted data, in case of including the caption data within said transport stream.

3. The video recording/reproducing apparatus, as described in the claim 1, wherein a user can select on main audio and/or sub-audio among said audio.

4. A video recording/reproducing apparatus for recording a television program therein, comprising: a receiving portion, which is configured to receive a television broadcasting signal;an operating portion, which is configured to generate a record command; anda recording portion, which is configured to be recordable a program included in said television broadcasting signal received, responding to the command from said operating portion,wherein a selection item is displayed on a screen to set up recording time for said program, when operation is made on said operating portion during when the program is displayed,said selection item includes a plural number of first items for showing a plural number of recording times, which are predetermined, and a second item to set up the recording time until an end time of broadcasting of said program, andeither one of said plural number of the first items or said second item can be set up to be the recording time for said program, responding to the operation on said operating portion.

5. The video recording/reproducing apparatus, as described in the claim 4, wherein sad plural number of the first items and said second item are exchangeably displayed depending upon a number of operations onto said operating portion.

The video recording/reproducing apparatus, as described in the claim 5, wherein said second item is displayed firstly when operation is made on said operating portion during when the program is displayed, and said plural number of the first items are displayed, exchangeably, in an order of short recording time, depending upon the number of operations, when further operation is made on said operating portion.

7. The video recording/reproducing apparatus, as described in the claim 4, wherein setup is made on an end time of recording for said program with using the end time of broadcasting of said program, which is included with in EPG data of the program on display, when selection is made on said second item.

8. A television receiver having therein a video recording/reproducing apparatus for recording a transport stream, which is included within a digital broadcasting signal, comprising: a first recording mode for recording video and audio data together with data broadcasting within said transport stream, when recording said transport stream; anda second recording mode for recording the video and audio data excepting said data broadcasting therefrom,wherein each of said modes is selectable for a user.

9. The television receiver, as described in the claim 8, wherein said data broadcasting is data, which is described by BML (Broadcast Markup Language).

10. The television receiver, as described in the claim 8, wherein said first mode further enables to record caption data together with said video and audio data, when said caption data is included within said transport stream.

11. The television receiver, as described in the claim 10, wherein the user can make selection on whether said caption data be recorded or not.

The television receiver, as described in the claim 8, further comprising: an operating portion, which is configured to generate a record command,wherein choices for setting up the recording time of said program are displayed on a screen, when operation is made on said operating portion during when the program is on display,said choices includes a plural number of first items for indicating a plural number of recording times predetermined, and a second item to set up the recording time until an end of broadcasting of said program, andeither one of said plural number of the first items or said second item can be set up to be the recording time for said program, responding to the operation on said operating portion.
