Claims
- 1. A method for increasing the storage stability of a double metal cyanide complex catalyzed polyoxyalkylene polyol, comprising:
- a) adjusting the amount of double metal cyanide complex catalyst and/or double metal cyanide complex catalyst residues to between 10 ppm and 250 ppm based on the weight of said polyol;
- b) adding an effective stabilizing amount of one or more antioxidants to said polyol, wherein the storage stability of said polyol containing both said double metal cyanide complex catalyst and/or double metal cyanide complex catalyst residues and said antioxidant is greater than an otherwise similar polyol not containing double metal cyanide complex catalyst and/or double metal cyanide complex catalyst residues.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said double metal cyanide complex catalyst or residue thereof is a substantially amorphous zinc hexacyanocobaltate complex catalyst or residue thereof.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein an organic complexing agent selected from the group consisting of isopropanol, t-butylalcohol, glyme, and mixtures of isopropanol, t-butylalcohol and/or glyme with a polyoxypropylene polyol comprises a complex portion of said double metal cyanide complex catalyst and/or said double metal cyanide complex catalyst residue.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said antioxidant comprises a hindered phenol antioxidant.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said hindered phenol antioxidant comprises butylated hydroxytoluene.
