Claims
- 1. A hydrocarbon-in-water emulsion formed by emulsifying a viscous hydrocarbon having a viscosity of greater than or equal to 100 centipoise at a temperature of 122.degree. F. using a surfactant consisting essentially of ammonia hydroxide in an amount sufficient to adjust the pH of the emulsion to a level of between 10.0 to 12.0, said hydrocarbon-in-water emulsion being characterized by a water content of at least 15 wt. %, a viscosity of no more than 5000 centipoise at 122.degree. F. and an oil droplet size of no more than 300 microns.
- 2. A hydrocarbon-in-water emulsion according to claim 1 wherein ammonia hydroxide is added in an amount sufficient to adjust the pH of the emulsion to a level of between 11.0 to 11.5.
