Claims
- 1. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and comprising the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO250-58CaO + MgO + Al2O30-4K2O 0-13TiO2 + ZrO2 +Y2O30-6Na2O0-9SnO2 + GeO20-5Li2O0-4BaO + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O3 7-14CaO0-3SiO2 + Al2O352-58MgO0-4K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-18B2O30-2ZnO + BaO + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O326-33ZnO16-30SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Al2O3 + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O390BaO 0-13TiO20-6ZrO20-5Y2O30-5Al2O30-3SnO20-5La2O30-9Nb2O50-9Bi2O3 0-13GeO20-5wherein the glass composition contains one or more of Sb2O3, As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2 as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, with the Sb2O3 content being 0-1% by weight.
- 2. Glass of claim 1 wherein, when K2O and Na2O are both present, the molar ratio of K2O to Na2O is 0.9-2:1, and when BaO and ZnO are both present, the molar ratio of BaO to ZnO is below 0.44:1, and wherein the glass has an index of optical dispersion Abbe number below 56.
- 3. Glass of claim 1 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253-57TiO2 + ZrO20-6K2O 7-12K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-17Na2O3-6ZnO + BaO26-30Li2O0-2SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O + ZnO + BaOat least91MgO0-2B2O30-1ZnO16-22BaO 7-13TiO20-6ZrO20-3Sb2O3 0-1.
- 4. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO + BaO +at leastTiO2 + Sb2O396.72K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO18-19BaO 9.5-10.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O30.22-0.27wherein the glass composition optionally contains one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 5. Glass of claim 1 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO255.5-56.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO + BaO +at leastTiO2 + Sb2O396.3K2O8-9Na2O4-5ZnO16.5-17.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO21.5-2.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77.
- 6. Glass of claim 1 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO + BaO +at leastTiO2 + Sb2O397.23K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO 16-16.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77.
- 7. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Sb2O397.23K2O10-11Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO 9.5-10.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition optionally contains one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 8. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253-57TiO2 + ZrO2 + Y2O30-6K2O 7-12BaO + Bi2O3 7-14Na2O3-6SiO2 + Al2O353-57Li2O0-1K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-17B2O30-1ZnO + BaO + Bi2O326-30ZnO16-22SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O +at leastZnO + BaO + Al2O3 + Bi2O391BaO 0-13TiO20-6ZrO20-2Y2O30-1Al2O30-1Bi2O3 1-13Sb2O30-1wherein the glass composition optionally contains one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 9. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Bi2O3 + Sb2O397.23K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO5.5-6.5Bi2O32.5-3.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition optionally contains one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 10. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, decolorized glass of improved workability and fusibility, having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and suitable for use as imitation lead crystal tableware and decorative crystal glassware, and having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBi2O3 + Sb2O397.73K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5Bi2O38.5-9.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition optionally contains one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 11. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO250-58CaO + MgO + Al2O30-4K2O 0-13TiO2 + ZrO2 + Y2O30-6Na2O0-9SnO2 + GeO20-5Li2O0-4BaO + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O3 7-14CaO0-3SiO2 + Al2O352-58MgO0-4K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-18B2O30-2ZnO + BaO + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O326-33ZnO16-30SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Al2O3 + La2O3 + Nb2O5 + Bi2O390BaO 0-13TiO20-6ZrO20-5Y2O30-5Al2O30-3SnO20-5La2O30-9Nb2O50-9Bi2O3 0-13GeO2 0-5.
- 12. Glass of claim 11 wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and further consists essentially of one or more of Sb2O3, As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2 as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, with the Sb2O3 content being 0-1% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 13. Glass of claim 11 wherein, when K2O and Na2O are both present, the molar ratio of K2O to Na2O is 0.9-2:1.
- 14. Glass of claim 11 wherein, when BaO and ZnO are both present, the molar ratio of BaO to ZnO is below 0.44:1.
- 15. Glass of claim 14 wherein said molar ratio is 0.14-0.43:1.
- 16. Glass of claim 11 wherein the glass has an index of optical dispersion Abbe number below 56.
- 17. Glass of claim 12 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253-57TiO2 + ZrO20-6K2O 7-12K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-17Na2O3-6ZnO + BaO26-30Li2O0-2SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O +at leastZnO + BaO91MgO0-2B2O30-1ZnO16-22BaO 7-13TiO20-6ZrO20-3Sb2O30-1wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 18. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O396.72K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO18-19BaO 9.5-10.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O30.22-0.27wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 19. Glass of claim 12 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO255.5-56.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O396.73K2O8-9Na2O4-5ZnO16.5-17.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO21.5-2.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 20. Glass of claim 12 having the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O397.23K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO 16-16.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 21. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 +K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Sb2O397.23K2O10-11Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO 9.5-10.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 22. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO253-57TiO2 + ZrO2 + Y2O30-6K2O 7-12BaO + Bi2O3 7-14Na2O3-6SiO2 + Al2O353-57Li2O0-1K2O + Na2O + Li2O12-17B2O30-1ZnO + BaO + Bi2O326-30ZnO16-22SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + Li2O +at leastZnO + BaO + Al2O3 + Bi2O391BaO 0-13TiO20-6ZrO20-2Y2O30-1Al2O30-1Bi2O3 1-13Sb2O30-1wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 23. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Bi2O3 + Sb2O397.23K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO5.5-6.5Bi2O32.5-3.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 24. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having the characteristics of lead crystal without the presence of lead, a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and consisting essentially of the following percentage by weight oxide composition:SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBi2O3 + Sb2O397.73K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5Bi2O38.5-9.5Sb2O30.73-0.77wherein the glass composition is free of coloring components and optionally further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 25. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and selected from the group consisting of:(1) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O396.72K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO18-19BaO9.5-10.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O3 0.22-0.27,(2) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO255.5-56.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O39.73K2O8-9Na2O4-5ZnO16.5-17.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO21.5-2.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77,(3) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +atBaO + TiO2 + Sb2O3least97.23K2O7.5-8.5Na2O4.5-5.5ZnO 16-16.5BaO10.5-11.5TiO23.5-4.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77, and(4) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO253.5-54.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBaO + Sb2O397.23K2O10-11Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO 9.5-10.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77.
- 26. Glass of claim 25 wherein the corresponding glass (1), (2), (3) and (4) each respectively is free of coloring components and further consists essentially of one or more of As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
- 27. Essentially lead-free, substantially cesium-free, and colorless glass having a density greater than 2.9 g/cm3 and a refractive index greater than 1.545, and at most 1% by weight Cs2O as an impurity, and selected from the group consisting of:(1) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +atBaO + Bi2O3 + Sb2O3least97.23K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5BaO5.5-6.5Bi2O32.5-3.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77, and(2) a glass having the following percentage by weight oxide composition: SiO254.5-55.5SiO2 + K2O + Na2O + ZnO +at leastBi2O3 + Sb2O397.73K2O10.5-11.5Na2O5-6ZnO18.5-19.5Bi2O38.5-9.5Sb2O3 0.73-0.77.
- 28. Glass of claim 27 wherein the corresponding glass (1) and (2) each respectively is free of coloring components and further consists essentially of one or more of, As2O3, NiO, CoO, MnO2, Er2O3, Nd2O3, SeO and CeO2, along with said Sb2O3, as refining and decolorizing agents in a total amount of below 2% by weight, thereby providing a decolorized glass.
