Claims
- 1. A system for projecting coherent light from a plurality of coherent light sources to provide a three-dimensional volume display comprising:
- (a) a plurality of coherent light beam sources, each of said sources providing a coherent light beam;
- (b) projector means converging the waist of each of said beams individually, combining the converged individual beams into a single beam, converging the waist of said single beam to provide a narrow combined beam waist and diverging the combined beam while maintaining said narrow combined beam waist; and
- (c) means responsive to said combined beam for providing said three-dimensional volume display.
- 2. The device of claim 1 wherein said coherent light beam sources are visible light lasers.
- 3. The device of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of modulators for controlling the intensity of each of said light beam sources.
- 4. The device of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of scanners under the control of applied signals for refracting each of said light beam sources.
- 5. The device of claim 4 wherein said scanners are acousto-optic scanners.
- 6. The device of claim 1 wherein said projector comprises:
- an upstream positive power element lens; and
- a downstream negative power element lens.
- 7. The device of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of beam splitters to combine said coherent light beams into a single beam.
- 8. The device of claim 7 wherein said beam splitters are dichroic beam splitters.
- 9. The device of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of mirrors to direct the coherent light beams toward the axis of the combined beam.
- 10. The device of claim 1 further comprising a collimator to abate the divergence of said combined beam.
- 11. The device of claim 10 wherein said collimator is a curved mirrored surface.
- 12. The device of claim 10 wherein said collimator is a lens.
- 13. The device of claim 10 wherein said collimator is a holographic optical device.
