Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to the field of wall protection devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a novel corner covering device designed to prevent drywall or metal wall corners from getting damaged. The cover conforms to the corner of a wall and accommodates the wall corner via a 90-degree angle structure. The cover device has transversal walls including earth magnets for magnetic attachment to metal drywall corners. The cover device can be installed on drywall without causing damage from tape or glue. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.

BACKGROUND

By way of background, wall corners protrude into living spaces, making them natural points of contact for individuals and objects moving through the area. Further, wall corners are often situated in high-traffic areas of homes, offices, and other buildings, where the flow of individuals and the movement of furniture and other objects are concentrated. Accordingly, wall corners are most likely to be bumped or scraped.

During the process of moving in or out, large furniture and appliances often need to be maneuvered through tight spaces, making wall corners especially susceptible to being hit. Moving companies, despite their expertise, may accidentally cause impacts that result in chips, dents, or scratches on the wall corners. Also, unlike flat wall surfaces, corners do not typically have furniture placed directly in front of them to offer some degree of protection, leaving them exposed to direct impacts. To mitigate damage to wall corners, individuals resort to using tapes or other adhesive-based products to shield wall corners. However, tapes and similar adhesives provide only a thin layer of protection that can easily be breached upon impact. Upon removal, these adhesives can leave sticky residues on the wall surfaces or can peel paint from the wall surfaces. This not only detracts from the aesthetic appearance but can also cause further damage when attempting to clean or remove the residue. There is a need for more effective and user-friendly solutions for wall corner protection.

Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved device that can act as a barrier to cover the corner of a wall to prevent damage. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a device that can conform to wall corners to prevent damage from an impact. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a novel barrier to protect wall corners that eliminates use of tapes and adhesives to prevent drywall or metal wall corners from damage. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for a protective device for wall corners that magnetically attaches to a wall corner. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art of a device that protects wall corners from physical damage, such as dents, scratches, and chips that can occur from furniture bumps, foot traffic, strollers, wheelchairs, or other impacts during moving activities. Furthermore, there is a long-felt need in the art for a device that uses magnets that selectively secures to a typical wall corner. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a wall corner protection device that saves considerable time and effort for construction and maintenance workers by eliminating the need to constantly patch and repaint drywall.

The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a wall corner protection device. The wall corner protection device further comprising a first wall and a second wall, the first wall and the second wall are transversally disposed along a common edge and form a 90-degree angle. The inner surface of the first wall has at least one earth magnet disposed therein and the inner surface of the second wall has at least one earth magnet disposed therein. The earth magnets are configured for providing magnetic attachment to the metal corner bead(s) of the wall corners for adhering the drywall corner protection device to the wall corner, wherein the device is configured to protect wall corners from physical damage by preventing direct contact with the wall corner.

In this manner, the wall corner protection device of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with a wall corner protection magnetic device for attachment to metal components (i.e., drywall corner bead(s)) within drywall corners for protection of wall corners from physical damage, such as dents, scratches, and chips. The device has walls which are transversal to each other forming a 90-degree angle, ensuring a flush and seamless fit against both walls of a standard corner. The magnets eliminate use of adhesive tapes or glues for installation means and provides a tailored fit that covers a significant portion of wall corners from a position proximal to the floor level or baseboard and extending upwards.
