As will be described in further detail herein, various garments 100 have features to allow access to a wearer's arms and/or chest, such as when receiving medical treatment, such as dialysis or another procedure. Medical treatment rooms tend to be cold, or due to various medical conditions, a patient may feel cold in a dialysis room. In view of the same, various garments 100 of the present disclosure are designed to keep a patient as warm as possible, while providing a physician or other medical personnel with the necessary access to the patient's body, such as when connecting dialysis tubing to various bodily ports.
As shown in
First sleeve 110, as shown in
In various embodiments, a number 10 two-way zipper can be used as one or both of zippers 150 and/or 155. In at least one embodiment, zippers 150, 155 (as well as zippers 750, 760 referenced in further detail herein) are plastic so to be less cold to the wearer of garment 100 as compared to a metal zipper 150, 155, 750, 760. Metal zippers 150, 155, 750, 760 can also be used in various garment 100 embodiments. Various zippers known in the art can be used as zippers 150, 155, noting that a generally larger zipper may be easier to use than a smaller one.
As shown in
The overall convenience of various garment 100 embodiments has to do with warmth and speed of bodily access, as generally referenced herein. A wearer of garment 100 can remain warm while wearing garment 100, and access to the patient's arm and/or chest can be had by opening one or more zippers 150, 155, 750 and/or 760.
In various embodiments, garments 100 of the present disclosure can be made to generally-used sizes, such as youth to adult small (S), medium (M), large (L), extra-large (XL), double extra-large (XXL), triple extra-large (XXXL), and smaller or larger as desired. Furthermore, custom garments 100 can be made by, for example, obtaining one or more wearer measurements, such as the length from shoulder to cuff, chest dimensions, overall length of the garment, and the like.
Various embodiments of garments 100 of the present disclosure can also comprise one or more chest zippers, such as a first chest zipper 750 with a first zipper pull 752 and a second chest zipper 760 with a second zipper pull 762. Chest zippers 750, 760, as shown in

Various garment 100 embodiments of the present disclosure may have various dimensions and/or design elements. For example, an upper arm area of garment 100 may be at or about 9″ wide or wider or narrower, when garment 100 is lying flat. Garment 100 may have a 32″ length or be longer or shorter, in various embodiments, from hood 700 to cuff 200. First sleeve 110 and/or second sleeve 120, at or near cuffs 200, may be at or about 6″ wide or wider or narrower, when garment 100 is lying flat. First zipper parts 172, 182 may extend to hood 700 at neck area, may extend to shoulder trim 962, or may extend along first sleeve 110 and/or second sleeve 120 not all the way to shoulder trim 962. Waist pockets 950, in various embodiments, may be at or about 11½″ tall or taller or shorter, at or about 8″ wide or wider or narrower on each side (from torso zipper 900 laterally outward). Various zippers referenced herein may be #10 zippers or other zippers, and may be black, silver, or another color. First sleeve zipper 150 and/or second sleeve zipper 155 may be at or near 16″ long or longer or shorter. First zipper pulls 160, 180, second zipper pulls 170, 190, first torso zipper pull 912, and/or second torso zipper pull 922, may be initially connected to either side of the various zippers referenced herein, and then ultimately connected to both sides of said zippers when opening and closing said zippers. Cuffs 200 may be 14″ long or longer or shorter, with the length being considered as relatively circumferential/diametrical, and have a width of ½″ or wider or narrower. Hood 700 may be at or about 14″ tall or taller or shorter, and at or about 14″ deep or deeper or shorter, in various garment 100 embodiments having hood 700. Pockets 850 may have dimensions of at or about ½″×2½″ or larger or shorter. Garments 100 may have a general width of at or about 25″ or wider or narrower, such as at the torso area, when garment 100 is lying flat.
In various garment 100 embodiments of the present disclosure, one or more of the following are present:
a) chest zipper 750; and/or
b) chest zipper 760; and/or
c) first sleeve zipper 150; and/or
d) second sleeve zipper 155.
Various garments 100 can be customized to fit the wearer's needs, such as by having one chest zipper 760 and one first sleeve zipper 150, for example.
It is further noted that various garment 100 embodiments of the present disclosure can each have one first sleeve zipper 150 and one second sleeve zipper 155, or they can each have one, two, three, or more first sleeve zippers 150 and/or second sleeve zippers 155.
Various garments 100 of the present disclosure can be configured as shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, coats, and/or the like, and may comprise one or more materials 970 such as flannel, fleece, cotton, denim, natural and/or synthetic feathers, natural and/or synthetic filling, and/or the like. Furthermore, various garments 100 of the present disclosure may be considered as medical devices depending on the ultimate use/purpose of the same, which may permit potential insurance(s) or other medical fee payment programs to cover some or all of the cost of the same.
At least one additional advantage, aside from warmth, convenience, convenient bodily access, etc., of garments 100 of the present disclosure is the ability to address the occasional instances of bleeding after a dialysis procedure, such as when a patient is leaving a treatment center. Certainly, and upon discovery, the bleeding should have immediate emergency treatment and attention to stop the bleeding for obvious reasons. Access to the site where the bleeding is occurring is quite convenient when a patient is wearing a garment 100, making for quick treatment of the site bleed and its subsequent clotting efforts of the site bleed. Removal of garment 100 is not necessary to treat an instance of post-procedure bleeding.
While various garments and methods of using the same have been described in considerable detail herein, the embodiments are merely offered as non-limiting examples of the disclosure described herein. It will therefore be understood that various changes and modifications may be made, and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not intended to be exhaustive or limiting with respect to the content thereof.
Further, in describing representative embodiments, the present disclosure may have presented a method and/or a process as a particular sequence of steps. However, to the extent that the method or process does not rely on the particular order of steps set forth therein, the method or process should not be limited to the particular sequence of steps described, as other sequences of steps may be possible. Therefore, the particular order of the steps disclosed herein should not be construed as limitations of the present disclosure. In addition, disclosure directed to a method and/or process should not be limited to the performance of their steps in the order written. Such sequences may be varied and still remain within the scope of the present disclosure.
