Claims
- 1. A method of preventing hypothermia, said method comprising:
- providing a blanket which may be used with a forced air convection system, wherein such blanket includes multiple inlet ports and wherein said multiple inlet ports are initially sealed closed;
- providing means to open said multiple inlet ports, wherein said means to open comprises a tear strip;
- placing said blanket over or under a patient; connecting at least one of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air; and
- supplying forced air from said supply source to said blanket.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein said connecting step includes connecting each of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, further including the step of providing a separate supply source for each of said multiple inlet ports, and connecting a separate supply source to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 4. A method according to claim 2, further including the step of providing a single supply source for connection to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 5. A method according to claim 4, wherein said blanket includes two inlet ports, and further including the step of providing a supply hose having a Y-shaped configuration and connecting one arm of said Y-shaped supply hose to each of said inlet ports respectively.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, further including the step of selectively choosing one of said multiple inlet ports for connection to said supply source based on surgical or medical procedure criteria.
- 7. A method according to claim 1, wherein said blanket includes two inlet ports.
- 8. A method of preventing hypothermia, said method comprising:
- providing a blanket which may be used with a forced air convection system, wherein such blanket includes multiple inlet ports and wherein said multiple inlet ports are sealed with reversible sealing means; wherein said reversible sealing means is selected from the group consisting of an adhesive strip, double-sided tape, snaps, zippers, folding flaps, and a ziplock type seal;
- placing said blanket over or under a patient;
- connecting at least one of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air; and
- supplying forced air from said supply source to said blanket.
- 9. A method according to claim 8, wherein said connecting step includes connecting each of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, further including the step of providing a separate supply source for each of said multiple inlet ports, and connecting a separate supply source to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 11. A method according to claim 9, further including the step of providing a single supply source for connection to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 12. A method according to claim 11, wherein said blanket includes two inlet ports, and further including the step of providing a supply hose having a Y-shaped configuration and connecting one arm of said Y-shaped supply hose to each of said inlet ports respectively.
- 13. A method of preventing hypothermia, said method comprising:
- providing a blanket which may be used with a forced air convection system, wherein such blanket includes multiple inlet ports and wherein said multiple inlet ports are sealed with reversible sealing means; wherein said reversible sealing means are hook and loop fastener strips;
- placing said blanket over or under a patient;
- connecting at least one of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air; and
- supplying forced air from said supply source to said blanket.
- 14. A method according to claim 8, further including the step of selectively choosing one of said multiple inlet ports for connection to said supply source based on surgical or medical procedure criteria.
- 15. A method according to claim 14, wherein said connecting step includes connecting each of said multiple inlet ports to a supply source of forced air.
- 16. A method according to claim 15, further including the step of providing a separate supply source for each of said multiple inlet ports, and connecting a separate supply source to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 17. A method according to claim 15, further including the step of providing a single supply source for connection to each of said multiple inlet ports.
- 18. A method according to claim 17, wherein said blanket includes two inlet ports, and further including the step of providing a supply hose having a Y-shaped configuration and connecting one arm of said Y-shaped supply hose to each of said inlet ports respectively.
- 19. A method according to claim 18, further including the step of selectively choosing one of said multiple inlet ports for connection to said supply source based on surgical or medical procedure criteria.
