Claims
- 1. A waste treatment system having a solid treatment appliance, said solid treatment appliance comprising:
- (a) a housing having an inlet opening and an outlet opening;
- (b) an inlet conduit extending from said inlet opening into said housing for receiving an incoming waste flow stream;
- (c) separator means for receiving said incoming waste flow stream from said inlet conduit and for separating said incoming waste flow stream into first and second components, wherein said first component is primarily liquid, said separator means including a separator having a first component outlet through which said first component exits said separator means as a first component flow stream, said separator further including a second component outlet through which said second component exits said separator, said separator further including an inner wall surface along which said first component flows continuously from said inlet conduit to said first component outlet, and wherein said second component is separated from said inner wall surface as said second component travels from said inlet conduit to said second component outlet, and wherein said first and second components flow continuously through said separator with said first and second components entering said separator means from said inlet conduit together as said incoming waste flow stream and wherein said first component flow stream is said incoming flow stream after the second component has been separated from said incoming waste flow stream, and further wherein said first and second components are separated as said first component travels along said inner wall surface and said second component is separated from said inner wall surface, wherein a velocity of said first component maintains a flow of said first component continuously along and against said inner wall surface from said inlet conduit to said first component outlet to produce said first component flow stream which exits said first component outlet, and further wherein said separator is disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance; and
- (d) means for incinerating said second component, said means for incinerating being disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance and including a cavity within which said second component is incinerated, and further wherein a passageway connects said second component outlet to said cavity.
- 2. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including an outlet conduit extending from said first component outlet to said outlet opening of said housing.
- 3. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said housing includes a further outlet, and wherein an exhaust conduit extends from said further outlet to said means for incinerating.
- 4. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said means for incinerating includes means for subjecting said second component to microwave energy.
- 5. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 4, wherein said housing includes a further outlet, and wherein an exhaust conduit extends from said means for incinerating to said further outlet.
- 6. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said means for incinerating is disposed below said separator means, and wherein a valve is disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance and between said separator means and said means for incinerating, such that when said valve is open, said second component free-falls into said means for incinerating.
- 7. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including:
- means for filtering said first component; and
- means for subjecting said means for filtering to microwave energy.
- 8. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including an outlet conduit extending from said first component outlet of said separator.
- 9. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including liquid treatment means for treating said first component, said liquid treatment means comprising:
- (a) a liquid treatment inlet for receiving said first component from said separator; and
- (b) means for filtering said first component to remove suspended particles from said first component.
- 10. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 9, wherein said liquid treatment means includes means for incinerating suspended particles removed from said first component by said means for filtering.
- 11. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including at least one of means for treating a liquid of said first component with an oxidant and means for treating a liquid of said first component with ultraviolet radiation.
- 12. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including means for treating a liquid of said first component with microwave radiation.
- 13. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein a liquid treatment appliance is disposed outside of said housing of said solid treatment appliance, such that said solid treatment appliance is provided as a first modular component of said waste treatment system and said liquid treatment appliance is provided as a second modular component of said waste treatment system, and wherein said liquid treatment appliance is connected to said solid treatment appliance to receive said first component exiting said housing of said solid treatment appliance.
- 14. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 13, further including an exhaust conduit at least partially disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance to provide a conduit for exhaust gases from said means for incinerating to an exterior of said housing, and wherein a filter assembly is disposed along said exhaust conduit and inside of said housing.
- 15. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including an exhaust conduit at least partially disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance to provide a conduit for exhaust gases from said means for incinerating to an exterior of said housing, and wherein a filter assembly is disposed along said exhaust conduit and inside of said housing.
- 16. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said inlet conduit directly receives said incoming flow from at least one waste source appliance without any intermediate treating or holding appliances disposed between said separator means and said at least one waste source appliance.
- 17. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 16, wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes at least one of a toilet, a shower, a clothes washer, a dishwasher, and a sink.
- 18. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 16, wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes a toilet.
- 19. A waste treatment system comprising:
- (a) a solid treatment appliance which includes a housing having an inlet opening and an outlet opening;
- (b) an inlet conduit extending from said inlet opening into said housing for receiving an incoming waste flow;
- (c) separator means for receiving said incoming waste flow from said inlet conduit and for separating said incoming flow into first and second components, wherein said first component is primarily liquid, said separator means including a separator having a first component outlet through which said first component exits said separator means, said separator further including a second component outlet through which said second component exits said separator, and wherein said separator is disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance; and
- (d) means for incinerating said second component, said means for incinerating being disposed in said housing of said solid treatment appliance, and including a cavity within which said second component is incinerated, and further wherein a passageway connects said second component outlet to said cavity;
- (e) the treatment system further comprising a filter assembly which includes at least one filter and which receives at least a portion of said first component, wherein a pump is disposed downstream from said at least one filter such that liquids are fed into said filter assembly by suction and wherein said filter assembly includes means for incinerating suspended particles removed from said first component and retained by said filter assembly; and
- the treatment system further including means for treating liquids with at least one oxidant, and wherein said filter assembly and said means for treating liquids with at least one oxidant are disposed in a liquid treatment appliance which is disposed in a second housing which is separate from said housing in which said separator is disposed.
- 20. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 19, further including means for treating liquids with ultraviolet radiation.
- 21. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 19, wherein said means for incinerating said second component includes means for subjecting said second component to microwave energy, and wherein said means for incinerating suspended particles removed from said first component and retained by said filter assembly includes means for subjecting said suspended particles to microwave energy.
- 22. A waste treatment system comprising:
- (a) a housing having an inlet opening and an outlet opening;
- (b) an inlet conduit extending from said inlet opening into said housing for receiving an incoming waste flow;
- (c) a separator means which receives said incoming waste flow from said inlet conduit and separates said incoming flow into first and second components, wherein said first component is primarily liquid, said separator including a first component outlet through which said first component exits said separator means, wherein said separator means is disposed in said housing;
- (d) first incinerating means for incinerating said second component, wherein said first incinerating means is disposed in said housing;
- (e) wherein said waste treatment system further includes a filter assembly which receives said first component, said filter assembly including a filter which removes suspended solids from said first component as said first component passes through said filter such that said suspended particles are retained by said filter assembly; and
- (f) second incinerating means for incinerating said suspended particles retained by said filter assembly.
- 23. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 22, wherein said waste treatment system includes a solid treatment appliance and a liquid treatment appliance, such that said solid treatment appliance is provided as a first modular component and said liquid treatment appliance is provided as a second modular component of said waste treatment system, and wherein said solid treatment appliance includes said housing, said separator means, and said first incineration means, and further wherein said liquid treatment appliance is connected to said solid treatment appliance to receive said first component by way of a first component conduit which extends from said first component outlet of said separator means and through said outlet opening of said housing of said solid treatment appliance, and further wherein said liquid treatment appliance includes said filter assembly and said second means for incinerating.
- 24. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 22, wherein said inlet conduit directly receives said incoming waste flow from at least one waste source appliance without any intermediate treating or holding appliances disposed between said separator means and said at least one waste source appliance.
- 25. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 24, wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes at least one of a toilet, a shower, a clothes washer, a dishwasher, and a sink.
- 26. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 24, wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes a toilet.
- 27. A waste treatment system having a solid treatment appliance, said solid treatment appliance comprising;
- (a) an inlet conduit for receiving an incoming waste flow stream from at least one waste source appliance, and wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes at least one of a toilet a shower, a clothes washer, a dishwasher, and a sink;
- (b) a separator means for receiving said incoming waste flow stream from said inlet conduit, wherein said inlet conduit directly receives said incoming flow stream from said at least one waste source appliance and feeds said incoming waste flow steam directly to said separator means without any intermediate holding appliances disposed between said separator means and said at least one waste source appliance, said separator means separating said incoming waste flow stream into first and second components, wherein said first component is primarily liquid, said separator means including a first component outlet through which said first component exits said separator means as a first component flow stream, said separator means further including a second component outlet through which said second component exits said separator means, said separator means further including an inner wall surface along which said first component flows continuously from said inlet conduit to said first component outlet, and wherein said second component is separated from said inner wall surface as said second component travels from said inlet conduit to said second component outlet, and wherein said first and second components flow continuously through said separator means with said first and second components entering said separator means from said inlet conduit together as said incoming waste flow stream and wherein said first component flow stream is said incoming flow stream after the second component has been separated from said incoming waste flow stream, and wherein said first and second components are separated as said first component travels along said inner wall surface and said second component is separated from said inner wall surface, wherein a velocity of said first component maintain a flow of said first component continuously along and against said inner wall sure from said inlet conduit to said first component outlet to produce said first component flow stream which exits said first component outlet; and
- (c) means for incinerating said second component, said means for incinerating including a cavity within which said second component is incinerated, and further wherein a passageway connects said second component outlet to said cavity,.
- 28. A waste treatment system as recited in claim 27, wherein said at least one waste source appliance includes a toilet.
