Claims
- 1. An apparatus for cleaning accumulated deposits from the pores in the domes mounted in an activated sludge aeration sewage treatment pond in a system that includes in combination a concentrated liquid acid supply; and air pump; a drop leg; a main header; branch headers; plenum chambers and a plurality of diffuser domes each mounted on its respective plenum chamber wherein a dilute liquid acid is filled into and pumped through at least certain of said branch headers, said plenum chambers and the pores of their respective diffuser domes; said apparatus comprising a mixing means; means for feeding said concentrated liquid acid supply to said mixing means to produce said dilute liquid acid solution which is operative to react with the deposits in the pores of said domes; means to supply water under pressure to said mixing means for dissolving the concentrated liquid acid in the water to form said dilute acid; means to feed said dilute acid cleaning solution into said drop leg, said branch header, said plenum chambers and the pores of their respective domes; and means to force said dilute acid through said system whereby to react said dilute acid with said deposits and force the reaction products from the pores of said domes.
- 2. An apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said mixing means includes a venturi and said means to supply water under pressure is adapted to feed said water to flow through said venturi in said mixing chamber for mixing said concentrated liquid acid with said water.
- 3. An apparatus as in claim 2 wherein said means to supply water under pressure is adapted to feed said water under pressure through said venturi and a feed conduit is connected between said concentrated liquid acid supply and said venturi.
- 4. An apparatus as in claim 3 wherein said venturi includes an elongated central passage having an axis along which the means to supply water directs the water to flow, and said feed conduit for said concentrated supply is connected to the center along the length of said elongated passage.
- 5. An apparatus as in claim 4 wherein said means to supply water to said central passage includes means to adjust the pressure within said flow of water.
- 6. An apparatus as in claim 5 wherein said feed conduit from said concentrate supply includes means to control the flow of concentrated acid from said supply to said central passage.
- 7. An apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said apparatus includes valve means to shut off the flow of air to said drop leg when said means to feed said dilute liquid acid cleaning solution is activated, and said valve means for shuting off said flow is adapted to be opened to force said dilute acid and the reaction products from the pores of said domes.
