With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A cover 26 is included which comprises a first shell 28 that is hingedly coupled to a second shell 30. Each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is closable around the spray head 18 of the water hose 12 thereby facilitating the cover 26 to be gripped for manipulating the spray head 18 to wash dishes 34. Each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is concavely arcuate such that the cover 26 defines a bell shape when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are closed such that the cover 26 conforms to the shape of the spray head 18. Each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 has an upper edge 36, a lower edge 38 and an outer wall 40 extending between the upper edge 36 and the lower edge 38. The outer wall 40 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 has a first lateral edge 42 extending between the upper edge 36 and the lower edge 38 and the outer wall 40 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 has a second lateral edge 44 extending between the upper edge 36 and the lower edge 38.
The outer wall 40 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is concavely arcuate between the first lateral edge 42 and the second lateral edge 44. Furthermore, the outer wall 40 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 flares outwardly between the upper edge 36 and the lower edge 38 such that each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 defines half of a frusto-conical shape. The upper edge 36 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is curved between the first lateral edge 42 and the second lateral edge 44 to define a semicircle. The lower edge 38 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is curved between the first lateral edge 42 and the second lateral edge 44 to define a semicircle which has a radius of curvature that is greater than a radius of curvature of the upper edge 36.
Each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 has a lobe 46 extending outwardly from the outer wall 40. The lobe 46 associated with each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 is aligned with and extends along a full length of the lower edge 38. The first shell 28 has a hole 48 extending through the outer wall 40 of the first shell 28 to accommodate a spray button 50 on the spray head 18 when the cover 26 is positioned around the spray head 18. The hole 48 is elongated along an axis extending between the upper edge 36 and the lower edge 38 of the first shell 28 such that the hole has an ovoid shape. Additionally, the second shell 30 has a pair of engagement points 52 each is integrated into the outer wall 40 of the second shell 30.
A pair of hinges 54 is provided and each of the hinges 54 is coupled to the outer wall 40 associated with each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30. Each of the hinges 54 extends across the first lateral edge 42 associated with each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30. The second lateral edge 44 of with the first shell 28 abuts the second lateral edge 44 of the second shell 30 when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are positioned in a closed position. Conversely, the second lateral edge 44 of the first shell 28 is spaced from the second lateral edge 44 of the second shell 30 when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are positioned in an open position.
A closure 56 is included which has a coupling surface 58 extending between a first end 60 of the closure 56 and a second end 62 of the closure 56. The first end 60 is coupled to the outer wall 40 of the first shell 28 such that the closure 56 extends beyond the second lateral edge 44 of the first shell 28 having the second end 62 of the closure 56 being spaced from the second lateral edge 44 of the first shell 28. The closure 56 has a pair of tabs 64 that is each coupled to and extends away from the coupling surface 58. Each of the tabs 64 engages a respective one of the engagement points 52 in the outer wall 40 of the second shell 30 when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are positioned in the closed position and the closure 56 is manipulated to into a closing condition for retaining the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 in the closed position.
The upper edge 36 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 forms a circle when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are in the closed position such that the upper edge 36 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 encircles the upper end 20 of the spray head 18. Additionally, the lower edge 38 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 forms a circle when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are in the closed position such that the lower edge 38 encircles the lower end 22 of the spray head 18. A pair of gaskets 66 is each bonded to an inside surface 67 of the outer wall 40 of a respective one of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30. Each of the gaskets 66 is aligned with and extends along a full length of the upper edge 36 of the respective first shell 28 and second shell 30 such that each of the gaskets 66 is compressed against the spray head 18 when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are closed around the spray head 18. Furthermore, each of the pair of gaskets 66 is comprised of a fluid impermeable material, including but not being limited to rubber or silicone. In this way the pair of gaskets 66 inhibits water 16 from passing between the spray head 18 and the upper edge 36 of each of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 when the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 are closed around the spray head 18.
A plurality of bristles 68 is each coupled to and extends downwardly from a respective one of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30 to scrub the dishes 34. Each of the plurality bristles 68 has a coupled end 70 that is coupled to the lower edge 38 of a respective one of the first shell 28 and the second shell 30. Additionally, each of the plurality of bristles 68 is comprised of a resilient material to dislodge food material that is adhered to the dishes 34. The bristles 68 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along the lower edge 38 of the respective first shell 28 and the second shell 30.
In use, the cover 26 is positioned around the spray head 18 such that the spray button 50 extends outwardly through the hole 48 in the outer wall 40 of the first shell 28 and the closure 56 is manipulated into the closing condition for retaining the cover 26 on the spray head 18. In this way the cover 26 can be gripped to facilitate the bristles 68 to scrub the dishes 34 while the spray head 18 sprays water 16 on the dishes 34. Furthermore, the cover 26 facilitates the bristles 68 to be employed in conjunction with the spray head 18 without the need to modify the spray head 18. In this way the dishes 34 can be more efficiently cleaned as compared to only spraying water 16 on the dishes 34.
