Claims
- 1. An adjuvant composition comprising an oil and from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure isomannide monooleate.
- 2. The adjuvant composition of claim 1 wherein the oil is a vegetable oil.
- 3. The adjuvant composition of claim 1 wherein the oil is a mineral oil.
- 4. The adjuvant composition of claim 2 wherein the vegetable oil is peanut oil.
- 5. An adjuvant vaccine composition comprising an oil, an antigen and from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure isomannide monooleate.
- 6. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 5 wherein the oil is vegetable oil.
- 7. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 5 wherein the oil is a mineral oil.
- 8. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 6 wherein the vegetable oil is peanut oil.
- 9. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 5 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 10. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 6 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 11. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 8 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 12. An adjuvant composition comprising an oil, from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure isomannide monooleate and from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure aluminum monostearate.
- 13. The adjuvant composition of claim 12 wherein the oil is a vegetable oil.
- 14. The adjuvant composition of claim 12 wherein the oil is a mineral oil.
- 15. The adjuvant composition of claim 13 wherein the vegetable oil is peanut oil.
- 16. An adjuvant composition comprising an oil, an antigen, from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure isomannide monooleate and from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure aluminum monostearate.
- 17. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 16 wherein the oil is a vegetable oil.
- 18. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 16 wherein the oil is a mineral oil.
- 19. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 17 wherein the vegetable oil is peanut oil.
- 20. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 16 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 21. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 17 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 22. The adjuvant vaccine composition of claim 19 wherein the antigen is influenza.
- 23. A parenteral vaccine preparation in the form of an emulsion comprising:
- a. a disperse aqueous phase containing at least one antigenic substance;
- b. a continuous oil phase;
- c. from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure isomannide monooleate and
- d. from about 0.5 - 10% by volume of pure aluminum monostearate.
- 24. A parenteral vaccine preparation in the form of an emulsion comprising (A) an emulsion vehicle which contains on a volume basis:
- pure isomannide monooleate (0.5 - 10%),
- oil (90-99.5%); and
- (B) an aqueous phase having incorporated therein, prior to emulsification, an immunological agent in an amount sufficient to elicit immune response when parenterally administered to a host.
- 25. A process for enhancing immunity in a host comprising parenterally administering to said host the vaccine preparation of claim 24.
- 26. A parenteral vaccine preparation in the form of an emulsion comprising (A) an emulsion vehicle which contains on a volume basis:
- pure isomannide monooleate (0.5 - 10%),
- pure aluminum monostearate (0.5 - 10%),
- oil (80-99%);
- (B) an aqueous phase having incorporated therein, prior to emulsification, an immunological agent in an amount sufficient to elicit immune response when parenterally administered to a host.
- 27. A process for enhancing immunity in a host comprising parenterally administering to said host the vaccine preparation of claim 26.
