Claims
- 1. A laminated substantially waterproof mat, comprising
a waterproof or water-resistant layer, and a textile layer comprising a fabric, the layers being secured together by adhesive lamination.
- 2. The mat of claim 1,
the layers being further secured by a hem substantially enclosing the periphery of the mat, the hem formed by folding one or more of the layers over the other layers and securing the layers together.
- 3. The mat of claim 1,
the waterproof or water-resistant layer comprising a membrane of polyvinyl chloride or other waterproof or water-resistant material having a thickness of at least about 0.05 mm.
- 4. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is formed by folding all layers over and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 5. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is formed by folding the waterproof or water-resistant layer over to cover the peripheral edges of the textile layer, and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 6. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is formed by folding the textile layer over to cover the peripheral edges of the waterproof or water-resistant layer, and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 7. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is formed by welding together layers of the mat at the peripheral edges of the layers.
- 8. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is further provided with a waterproof sealant.
- 9. The mat of claim 1,
wherein fabric comprises acrylic fibers, canvas, cotton, poly-cotton blend, nylon, polyethylene fleece, wool and blends thereof.
- 10. The mat of claim 2,
wherein the hem is provided with a deviation away from the peripheral edge of the mat to form a cavity between the layers thereof.
- 11. The mat of claim 10,
wherein the cavity is provided with a closure mechanism.
- 12. The mat of claim 11,
wherein the closure mechanism is a hook and loop closure.
- 13. The mat of claim 1,
further including a closure mechanism secured to the mat for maintaining the mat in a rolled-up configuration when the mat is rolled-up.
- 14. The mat of claim 13,
wherein the closure mechanism is a hook and loop closure.
- 15. The mat of claim 1,
further comprising an a handle secured to the mat.
- 16. The mat of claim 1, further comprising
an additional layer, of a size smaller than that of the textile layer and the waterproof or water-resistant layer, secured at the periphery of the mat to form a pocket thereon.
- 17. The mat of claim 16,
wherein the additional layer is comprised of substantially waterproof material.
- 18. The mat of claim 16,
wherein the pocket is provided with a closure mechanism.
- 19. The mat of claim 18,
wherein the closure mechanism is a hook and loop closure.
- 20. The mat of claim 1, further including
a lining layer positioned between the textile layer and the waterproof or water-resistant layer, the layers of the mat being secured together by adhesive lamination.
- 21. The mat of claim 20,
the layers being further secured by a hem substantially enclosing the periphery of the mat, the hem formed by folding one or more of the layers over the other layers and securing the layers together.
- 22. The mat of claim 21,
wherein the hem is formed by folding all layers over and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 23. The mat of claim 21,
wherein the hem is formed by folding the waterproof or water-resistant layer over to cover the peripheral edges of the textile layer, and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 24. The mat of claim 21,
wherein the hem is formed by folding the textile layer over to cover the peripheral edges of the waterproof or water-resistant layer, and stitching through all layers with thread.
- 25. The mat of claim 21,
wherein the hem is formed by welding together layers of the mat at the peripheral edges of the layers.
- 26. The mat of claim 21,
wherein the hem is further provided with a waterproof sealant.
- 27. A laminated substantially waterproof mat comprising at least three layers,
a first layer comprising a membrane of polyvinyl chloride or other waterproof or water-resistant material having a thickness of at least about 0.05 mm and having an inner surface and an outer surface; a second layer comprising a polyurethane foam layer having a thickness of at least 1 mm, and a third layer comprising a fabric, the layers being secured together by adhesive lamination and by a hem substantially enclosing the periphery of the mat, the hem being formed by folding one or more of the layers over the other layers and securing the layers together.
- 28. A laminated substantially waterproof mat, comprising
a waterproof or water-resistant layer, and a textile layer comprising a fabric, the layers being secured together over their entire common area.
- 29. The mat of claim 28, wherein the waterproof or water-resistant layer is formed on the textile layer.
- 30. The mat of claim 29, wherein the waterproof or water-resistant layer is formed by spraying or lamination onto the textile layer.
- 31. The mat of claim 28, wherein the mat has a flap, the flap being configured to cover a portion of the mat when the mat is folded or rolled.
- 32. The mat of claim 31, wherein a closure mechanism is provided to secure the flap to the mat.
- 33. The mat of claim 32, further comprising a handle.
- 34. The mat of claim 31, wherein the flap has at least a first surface, and wherein the flap is configured to have its first surface viewable when the mat is rolled or folded, and wherein the first surface contains indicia thereon.
- 35. The mat of claim 34, wherein the indicia comprises a logo.
- 36. The mat of claim 34, wherein the indicia comprises advertising.
- 37. A container having a container body, a detachable pocket and attachment means for attaching said pocket to said container.
- 38. The container of claim 37, further comprising a laminated substantially waterproof mat comprising a waterproof or water-resistant layer, and a textile layer comprising a fabric, the layers being secured together over their entire common area, said mat being configured to fit within said detachable pocket.
- 39. The container of claim 38, wherein said attachment means comprises a zipper.
- 40. The mat of claim 28, having a zipper disposed thereon to secure the mat in a folded or collapsed condition when the zipper is pulled around all or part of the perimeter of the mat.
- 41. The mat of claim 28, having indicia appearing on the surface of at least one layer of the mat.
