Abstract

A collapsible alignment aid consisting of multiple rods, sleeves in which the rods come to rest, an elastic cord which draws thru out to hold together as one unit and end caps for tie off coverage and a finished appearance.

Description

This invention relates in general to a basic collapsible alignment aid. Proper alignment or aim is key to successful advancement of a golf ball too or at an intended target. This collapsible alignment aid will help a said participant to better align themselves at their intended target so that a said participant may swing along that intended target line with better results. Furthermore an alignment aid that collapses so that the said participant may conveniently store this training aid inside one of the golf bag pockets when not in use verses have it sticking in and out of the top of the golf bag.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Heretofore, many multiple piece adjustable alignment aids have suggested the proper setup in regards to the correct stance and ball position for each and every club requiring adjustments or locking parts. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 7,575,522 discloses and primary function is the correlation of ball position directly related to height with the use of a T shaped alignment aid that needs to be adjusted accordingly. Other complex adjustable US Patents with regards to the correct stance or swing are U.S. Pat. Nos., 2,180,170; 2,777,697; 4,384,718; 4,647,048; 5,322,288; 5,362,060; 5,482,284 and 6,752,724. U.S. Pat. No 5,201,598 as cited is an internal elastic cord locking mechanism used as a means of tying off the cord not being used in present invention. U.S. Pat. No. 3,669,133 discloses the use of an elastic internal cord thru tapered tubular sections drawn together mechanically by a toggle lever to achieve and erect or collapsible state intended for use as a walking cane. The tapered tubular sections fit end to end without the use of couplings or sleeves. U.S. Pat. No. 6,705,654 discloses a fold up type retrieval device with the use of a double ended coupler device which houses the tie strap device, a handle and a nail head type hook device. All components primary or not are for retrieval purposes.

Other non-collapsible alignment aids are of a one piece, rigid in nature and rod form which are non-storable and remains placed in and sticking out of the top of the golf bag.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

This invention is a basic collapsible golf alignment training aid. Said invention is very simple and comes together easily, remaining one unit while fully extended or in a collapsed state. Said invention when fully extended produces a line of sight target line to assist with proper body/target alignment, equipment alignment, swing paths and desired impact positioning without the use of hand adjustable, twist connecting or locking mechanisms. When not in use the collapsibility allows convenient golf bag pocket storage.

DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a descriptive view of assembled parts, tubes 3, sleeves with stop 4, end caps 5 and internal elastic cord 6 which draws and binds all said parts together as one unit in extended for use position FIG. 1A or collapsed position FIG. 2.

DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

The present invention being a collapsible golf alignment training aid is seen as a single rod when extended and ready for use shown in FIG. 1A. With the use of an elastic cord 6 that runs thru the internal openings in the tubes 3 and sleeves 4 are drawn telescopically together fitting inter-frictionally into and by the sleeves 4 with the end caps 5 for coverage and finished appearance at each end as shown in 1A. The tubes 3 can be of any desired shape, diameter, length or number of pieces as shown in FIG. 2 with a minimum of two for collapsibility. Sleeves 4 would be proportionately one less in number than the tubes 3 so that they may telescopically fit inter-frictionally to form the extended position 1A for use. The elastic cord 6 shall bind all pieces telescopically, tubes 3 and sleeves 4, together with tension and can be tied off by knot or other means larger than the tube 3 opening at each end. The internal elastic cord 6 will not be seen when in the extended for use position 1A. Only two in number end caps 5 are needed for coverage of the tubes 3 at adjacent ends for a finished appearance. With the tension of and in the elastic cord 6 binding all parts together in the collapsed position FIG. 2. To extend for use 1A said participant needs to hold one end 3FIG. 2 and simply release towards the ground so the elastic cord 6 will draw the tubes 3 into the sleeves 4 to form the extended position 1A for use.

To collapse said participant shall hold one end 3FIG. 2 and pull other tube 3 or tubes 3FIG. 2 apart which creates separation from other existing tube 3, or tubes 3FIG. 2 and sleeve 4 or sleeves 4 and 4FIG. 2. Simply fold as seen in FIG. 2 for convenient golf bag pocket storage.

This invention is a “Way” to train, check and perform correct body/target alignment.

2. I claim this present invention is an improved basic alignment aid and more particularly to an alignment aid formed of several tubular rod sections which can be folded into a collapsible state for convenient storage.

3. This present invention is a basic design so that when fully extended it consists of a straight single rod to help visually see an intended target line. It will aid in properly aligning or aiming your body to the intended target.

4. This present invention is designed so that when not in use can be folded into a collapsible state for convenient storage.

5. I claim the present basic alignment aid which consists of an elastic cord running thru several tubular rod sections which creates tension so that the tubular rods meet end to end inside the couplings/sleeves to form the single straight rod.

6. I claim the present invention consisting of an elastic cord running thru the tubular rod sections, fit snugly together into couplings/sleeves forming a straight single unit are tied off at each end and capped for a finished appearance.
