Wearable Safety/Carrying Device

Abstract
A wearable carrying device for a cell phone or similar object is easily worn and includes various safety advantages for the wearer. An elongated band has opposed ends and opposed sides and a pocket is attached to the band. The band can be secured to the arm or other parts of the body in a tight-fit relationship. A reflective strip is disposed at one side of the band and extends longitudinally along the band.
Description
BACKGROUND

This disclosure relates generally to apparel and other useful items which may be worn and include reflective devices to present a visually striking appearance for safety purposes. More particularly, this disclosure also relates generally to devices for facilitating the use and portability of personal electronic devices.

SUMMARY

Briefly stated, a wearable/safety carrying device comprises an elongated band having opposed ends and opposed sides. A pocket is attached to the band A reflective strip disposed at one side extends longitudinally therealong. A securement means adjacent opposed ends and on opposite sides of the bands secure the band in a tight-fit relationship.

The securement means comprises a pair of cooperatively fastenable Velcro™ pads in one embodiment. The pocket is preferably dimensioned to receive a cell phone The reflective strip is centered on the reflective band. The securement means comprises a tight-fit relationship at multiple positions.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 is a perspective view, partly in phantom, of a wearable safety/carrying device; and

FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic view, partly in phantom, of the wearable safety/carrying device of FIG. 1 in a flattened state.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

With reference to the drawings, wherein like numerals represent like parts in the figures, a wearable safety/carrying device in the form of a reflective band with an electronic device pocket is generally represented by the numeral 10. The device 10 is adapted for wear around the arm of an individual to provide a safety marking as well as to facilitate the portability of a personal compact electronic device.

The device 10 comprises an elongated band 20 which is dimensioned to be wrapped and secured around the arm. The band 20 is preferably dimensioned in a one size fits all length. In one embodiment, the band 20 is approximately 18 inches long and 2 inches wide. The band 20 may be formed from an iridescent web material.

The pocket 30 is attached to the band with an upper end preferably generally collinear with the top of the band. The pocket may be attached by stitching or other means. The pocket may also be formed from an iridescent web material. In one preferred embodiment, the pocket 30 is configured as a generally rectangular pouch with a top access opening 32. The pocket 30 preferably has a dimension of approximately 3.5 inches wide by 5 inches tall. The pocket 30 is dimensioned to hold compact personal electronic devices such as cell phones, music players, for example, iPods, iPhones and, of course, the pocket can hold money and other items.

A reflective strip 22 is a segment of 3M™ reflective tape marketed by the 3M Company of St. Paul, Minn. In one embodiment the reflective strip 22 is approximately 0.075 inches by approximately 12 inches and is centered on the band 200.

A rough Velcro™ pad 24 is mounted at one end of the band 20, and a second soft Velcro™ pad 26 is mounted on the reverse side of the band opposite the reflective strip so that the band may be easily wrapped around the arm and secured by the engagement of the Velcro™ pads 24 and 26. Thus, multiple effective band diameters may be achieved. Various other hook and loop-type fasteners and other easy release connectors may be employed.

It will be appreciated that the pocket 30 is conveniently dimensioned to secure personal electronic devices, and the reflective strip 22 provides for reflection of light at night and functions as a safety feature. The useful length can be adjusted by the engagement of the connecting pads, and hence, one size fits the vast majority of arm dimensions.
