Claims
- 1. An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) comprising:
a display; a logic server coupled to the display, the logic server controlling content of screens to be displayed on the display; and a memory coupled to the logic server, the memory containing a profile of at least one user.
- 2. The ATM as recited in claim 1, further comprising:
a machine interface, the machine interface providing an interface to physical devices in the ATM.
- 3. The ATM as recited in claim 2, further comprising:
a printer; and a cash dispenser, wherein the machine interface receives a status of the printer and the cash dispenser.
- 4. The ATM as recited in claim 3, wherein the logic server dynamically modifies the content of the screens in response to the status of one of the printer and the cash dispenser.
- 5. The ATM as recited in claim 1, further comprising:
a host interface coupled to the logic server, wherein the host interface provides an interface to a host.
- 6. The ATM as recited in claim 5, wherein said host interface further comprises:
an IFX proxy, the IFX proxy performing IFX formatting.
- 7. The ATM as recited in claim 5, wherein said host interface further comprises:
a NDC proxy, the NDC proxy performing NDC formatting.
- 8. The ATM as recited in claim 1, wherein the logic server is part of a user interface, the user interface further comprising:
a browser coupled to the logic server and the display; a screen object module coupled to the logic server, wherein said screen object module contains objects to be displayed on the display; and a multilanguage engine coupled to the logic server, wherein the multilanguage engine operates with the logic server to provide multiple language options on the screens.
- 9. The ATM as recited in claim 1, wherein the logic server dynamically modifies the content of the screens in response to the user profile.
- 10. The ATM as recited in claim 1, further comprising:
an audio port, the ATM providing audio prompts after detecting a headset in the audio port, the audio prompts providing user instructions.
- 11. The ATM as recited in claim 10, wherein said audio prompts are synthesized from the content.
- 12. A method of operating an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) comprising:
detecting a swipe of a user's card; requesting a profile of the user; receiving the user's profile; and storing the user's profile in the ATM.
- 13. The method as recited in claim 12, further comprising: displaying information on a display screen of the ATM.
- 14. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:
dynamically modifying the information in response to user's profile.
- 15. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:
detecting a status of hardware devices in the ATM; and dynamically modifying the information in response to the status.
- 16. The method as recited in claim 12, wherein the step of requesting the user's profile and the step of receiving the user's profile further comprises requesting and receiving the user's profile from a host.
- 17. The method as recited in claim 16, wherein messages to and from the host are in IFX format.
- 18. The method as recited in claim 16, wherein messages to and from the host are in NDC format.
- 19. The method as recited in claim 13, further comprising:
translating the information into a different language prior to the displaying step.
- 20. The method as recited in claim 19, wherein the translating step is in response to the user's profile.
- 21. The method as recited in claim 12, further comprising:
detecting a headset in an audio port of an ATM; and prompting the user with audio prompts containing operating instructions.
- 22. The method as recited in claim 21, further comprising: speech synthesizing the audio prompts.
- 23. An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) system comprising:
a host; a network coupled to the host; and an ATM unit comprising: a display, a logic server coupled to the display, the logic server controlling content of screens to be displayed on the display, and a memory coupled to the logic server, the memory containing a profile of at least one user.
- 24. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the ATM unit further comprises:
a machine interface, the machine interface providing an interface to physical devices in the ATM.
- 25. The ATM system as recited in claim 24, wherein the ATM unit further comprises:
a printer; and a cash dispenser, wherein the machine interface receives a status of the printer and the cash dispenser.
- 26. The ATM system as recited in claim 25, wherein the logic server dynamically modifies the content of the screens in response to the status of one of the printer and the cash dispenser.
- 27. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, further comprising:
a host interface coupled to the logic server and coupled to the network, wherein the host interface provides an interface to the host.
- 28. The ATM system as recited in claim 27, wherein said host interface further comprises:
an IFX proxy, the IFX proxy performing IFX formatting.
- 29. The ATM system as recited in claim 27, wherein said host interface further comprises:
a NDC proxy, the NDC proxy performing NDC formatting.
- 30. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the logic server is part of a user interface, the user interface further comprising:
a browser coupled to the logic server and the display; a screen object module coupled to the logic server, wherein said screen object module contains objects to be displayed on the display; and a multilanguage engine coupled to the logic server, wherein the multilanguage engine operates with the logic server to provide multiple language options on the screens.
- 31. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the logic server dynamically modifies the content of the screens in response to the user profile.
- 32. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the ATM unit further comprises:
an audio port, the ATM providing audio prompts after detecting a headset in the audio port, the audio prompts providing user instructions.
- 33. The ATM system as recited in claim 32, wherein said audio prompts are synthesized from the content.
- 34. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the network is the Internet.
- 35. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the network is a virtual private network.
- 36. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the network is an intranet.
- 37. The ATM system as recited in claim 23, wherein the network is a telephone system.
- 38. The ATM system as recited in claim 37, wherein communication over the telephone system is accomplished using asymmetric transfer mode.
- 39. A method of operating an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) system comprising:
detecting a swipe of a user's card by an ATM unit; requesting a profile of the user from a host; receiving the user's profile at the ATM unit; and storing the user's profile in the ATM unit.
- 40. The method as recited in claim 39, further comprising:
displaying information on a display screen of the ATM unit.
- 41. The method as recited in claim 40 further comprising:
dynamically modifying the information in response to user's profile.
- 42. The method as recited in claim 40, further comprising:
detecting a status of hardware devices in the ATM unit; and dynamically modifying the information in response to the status.
- 43. The method as recited in claim 39, further comprising:
the host retrieving the requested user's profile from a database.
- 44. The method as recited in claim 39, wherein messages to and from the host are in IFX format.
- 45. The method as recited in claim 39, wherein messages to and from the host are in NDC format.
- 46. The method as recited in claim 39, further comprising:
translating the information into a different language prior to the displaying step.
- 47. The method as recited in claim 46, wherein the translating step is in response to the user's profile.
- 48. The method as recited in claim 39, further comprising:
detecting a headset in an audio port of an ATM; and prompting the user with audio prompts containing operating instructions.
- 49. The method as recited in claim 48, further comprising:
speech synthesizing the audio prompts.
- 50. The method as recited in claim 39, wherein the requesting and receiving steps are effectuated over a network.
- 51. The method as recited in claim 50, wherein the network is the Internet.
- 52. The method as recited in claim 50, wherein the network is a virtual private network.
- 53. The method as recited in claim 50, wherein the network is an intranet.
- 54. The method as recited in claim 50, wherein the network is a telephone system.
- 55. The method as recited in claim 50, wherein communication over the telephone system is accomplished using asymmetric transfer mode.
