Claims
- 1. A non-disassembling partition assembly comprising:
- at least one first slotted plastic partition, each first slotted partition having at least one slot extending inwardly from an edge thereof;
- at least one second slotted plastic partition, each second slotted partition having at least one slot extending inwardly from an edge thereof;
- said first and second slotted partitions being arranged in a matrix, said at least one slot of said at least one first slotted partition being engaged with said at least one slot of said at least one second slotted partition at an intersection;
- said at least one first slotted partition and said at least one second slotted partition having two opposed face plies and a plurality of spacers between the face plies; and
- said matrix being held together in an assembled relationship by a weldment at said intersection, said weldment permanently securing said at least one first slotted partition to said at least one second slotted partition and being contained between said face plies.
- 2. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment is formed from a mass of molten plastic.
- 3. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment is adjacent an edge of said intersection.
- 4. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment and said at least one first slotted partition are both made of polyethylene.
- 5. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment and said at least one second slotted partition are both made of polypropylene.
- 6. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment is cross-shaped.
- 7. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 further comprising a supporting net secured to an edge surface of the partition assembly.
- 8. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 7 wherein said supporting net is secured to said edge surface of the partition assembly with a plurality of additional weldments.
- 9. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 8 wherein said additional weldments and said net are made of the same general plastic composition as that of said at least one first slotted partition and said at least one second slotted partition for ease of recyclability.
- 10. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 1 wherein said weldment is of the same general composition as that of said at least one first slotted partition and said at least one second slotted partition for ease of recyclability.
- 11. A non-disassembling partition assembly for insertion into a container comprising:
- a plurality of first slotted plastic partitions, each first slotted partition having a series of slots extending inwardly from an edge thereof;
- a plurality of second slotted plastic partitions, each second slotted partition having a series of slots extending inwardly from an edge thereof;
- said first and second slotted partitions being arranged in a matrix, one of said slots of one of said first slotted partitions being engaged with one of said slots of one of said second slotted partitions at an intersection;
- several of said slotted partitions having two opposed face plies and a plurality of spacers between the face plies; and
- said matrix having a plurality of intersections, said partitions being held together in an assembled relationship by a plurality of weldments, each of said weldments permanently securing one of said first slotted partitions to one of said second slotted partitions at one of said intersections, said weldments being at least partially contained between the face plies of the partitions.
- 12. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 11 wherein each of said weldments is formed from a mass of molten plastic.
- 13. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 11 wherein each of said weldments is of the same general composition as that of the partitions for ease of recyclability.
- 14. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 11 wherein at least one of said weldments is cross-shaped and contained between the face plies of the partitions.
- 15. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 11 wherein said spacers are parallel corrugations, two of said corrugations which are adjacent defining a flute, each of said partitions having multiple corrugations and flutes.
- 16. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 15 wherein said corrugations are horizontally oriented.
- 17. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 15 wherein said corrugations are vertically oriented.
- 18. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 15 wherein said corrugations of said first slotted partitions are horizontally oriented and said corrugations of said second slotted partitions are vertically oriented.
- 19. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 15 wherein each of said weldments is contained within at least one of said flutes at each of said plurality of intersections.
- 20. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 15 wherein each of said weldments melts through said corrugations to join intersecting first and second partitions.
- 21. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 11 wherein each of said weldments aids in securing a supporting net to an edge surface of said partition assembly.
- 22. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 21 wherein said supporting net is made of the same material as the weldments and partitions.
- 23. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 21 wherein said partition assembly is collapsible.
- 24. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 21 wherein said supporting net is secured to an edge surface of the partition assembly by a plurality of additional weldments.
- 25. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 24 wherein said additional weldments are along the edge surface of said first and second slotted partitions at locations where said supporting net crosses said first and second slotted partitions.
- 26. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 21 wherein said weldments and said net are made of the same general plastic composition as that of the partitions for ease of recyclability.
- 27. A non-disassembling partition assembly comprising:
- a plurality of first slotted partitions, each first slotted partition having two opposed edges and a series of slots extending from one edge of the first slotted partition toward the opposed edge of the first slotted partition, each slot extending to approximately mid-way between said edges of said first slotted partition;
- a plurality of second slotted partitions, each second slotted partition having two opposed edges and a series of slots extending from one edge of the second slotted partition toward the opposed edge of the second slotted partition, each slot extending to approximately mid-way between said edges of said second slotted partition;
- each first and second slotted partition being made of double face plastic having multiple spacers sandwiched between two face plies,
- said first and second slotted partitions being arranged in a matrix, with at least one of said slots of one of said first slotted partitions being engaged with one of said slots of one of said second slotted partitions at an intersection;
- said matrix having a plurality of intersections, said partitions being secured together in a non-disassembling relationship by a plurality of weldments at said plurality of intersections, each of said weldments being at least partially contained between the face plies of the partitions and permanently securing one of said first slotted partitions to one of said second slotted partitions proximate an edge of one of said intersections.
- 28. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 27 wherein each of said weldments is cross-shaped and contained within the face plies of the partitions.
- 29. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 27 wherein each of said weldments comprises a mass of plastic.
- 30. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 27 wherein each of said weldments is contained within the face plies of said intersecting first and second partitions at one of said intersections.
- 31. A non-disassembling partition assembly comprising:
- at least one first slotted partition, each first slotted partition having at least one slot extending downwardly from a top edge of said at least one first slotted partition;
- at least one second slotted partition, each second slotted partition having at least one slot extending upwardly from a bottom edge of said at least one second slotted partition;
- selected first and second slotted partitions being made of double face corrugated plastic having multiple corrugations sandwiched between two face plies so as to define hollow parallel flutes therebetween,
- said first and second slotted partitions being arranged in a matrix, said at least one slot of said at least one first slotted partition being engaged with said at least one slot of said at least one second slotted partition at an intersection,
- said matrix being secured together in a non-disassembling relationship by a weldment at said intersection, said weldment permanently securing said at least one first slotted partition to said at least one second slotted partition proximate an edge of an intersection, said weldment partially melting through said corrugations.
- 32. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said weldment comprises a mass of plastic.
- 33. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said weldment is contained within the face plies of said first and second partitions.
- 34. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said corrugations are vertically oriented.
- 35. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said corrugations are horizontally oriented.
- 36. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said corrugations of said at least one first slotted partition are horizontally oriented and said corrugations of said at least one second slotted partition are vertically oriented.
- 37. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 wherein said at least one first slotted partition comprises a first plurality of slotted partitions, said at least one second slotted partition comprises a second plurality of slotted partitions, selected ones of said first plurality of slotted partitions having horizontally oriented corrugations and selected ones of said second plurality of slotted partitions having vertically oriented corrugations.
- 38. The non-disassembling partition assembly of claim 31 further comprising a supporting net secured to a bottom edge of the partition assembly.
