Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of a self-consolidating particle exhibiting improved compatibility with well treatment fluid comprising:
- providing a particulate substrate:
- forming an inner coating on said particulate substrate of a first curable resin;
- forming an outer coating on said particulate substrate of a second curable resin; and
- subjecting the resulting resin coated particulate substrate to conditions sufficient to substantially cure said outer coating while maintaining said inner coating in a fusible curable state, wherein said resins form a solid non-tacky coating at ambient temperature.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein said particulate substrate is frac sand.
- 3. The process of claim 2 wherein said inner coating is a novolac resin and said outer coating is a resole resin.
- 4. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of providing an additional coating of a curable resin which is located on the exterior of the particulate substrate and inside the inner coating, and wherein the additional coating is substantially cured before the inner coating is formed.
- 5. A process for the preparation of a self-consolidating proppant exhibiting improved compatibility with well treatment fluids comprising:
- providing a particulate substrate:
- forming an inner coating on said particulate substrate of a fusible curable novolac resin;
- forming an outer coating on said particulate substrate of a curable resole resin; and
- subjecting the resulting coated particulate substrate to conditions sufficient to cure said outer coating while maintaining said inner coating in a curable state, wherein said resins form a solid non-tacky coating at ambient temperature.
