Description of the Related Art

The use of wigs and hair pieces has increased very substantially in recent times but has, to some extent, been limited by inability of the wigs or hair pieces to be restyled and/or re-dyed without deterioration of the hair piece. Thus, it has been necessary to own a large number of hair pieces or wigs in order to provide the owner with a variety of styles and/or colors.

Today, wigs, hair pieces and extensions are worn for a variety of reasons. Whether a finely crafted wig worn by a woman who has lost her hair as a result of chemotherapy treatments or lupus, or colorful hair extensions and braids which adorn the head of a pop star: wigs, hairpieces and extensions offer people a simple means of accentuating their appearance and feeling good about themselves.

However, holding the wigs properly and keeping them safe at a proper convenient spacing is also very critical. This is required so that the wig shape doesn't lose its shape or get damaged. In the prior art there are multiple patents that are found in prior art. For instance, a U.S. Pat. No. 3,653,563A issued to JOHN E RUSS is a wig holder for mounting on a table and in a wig box. The holder simulates a head and neck and has a plastic housing assembly secured to it which slidingly receives a rack assembly and a plunger assembly. The housing assembly has a vertically extending tube integrally joined to a horizontally extending tube. A top plate is secured to the bottom of the vertical tube. A rack is mounted on top of a bottom plate, and is positioned in the vertically extending tube. A plunger is slide able in the horizontal tube, engaging and locking the rack in position. A handled rod is mounted to the plunger. A hole is provided through the top and bottom plates for mounting the holder in a wig box.

The wig holder 1, shown inserted in a drying apparatus 2, consists of a face part 1c and a neck part 1d having an air inlet 1a on its underside. The areas over 1c and 1d are air-impermeable, while the rest of the holder, corresponding to the area covered by the wig, allows free passage of air. The holder is preferably made of non-rusting mesh, covered where necessary with plastics material; alternatively, the air-permeable parts may be of porous plastics material. The drying apparatus 2 consists of a cup-shaped housing 2a having a rim with air inlets 2c and enclosing a heating element 3. A fan 4a, on the armature 4b of an electric motor 4, is mounted within a cover 2b, which has a lower aperture 8a and an upper aperture co-operating with the air inlet 1a of the wig holder. In use, the wig holder, carrying a wig for drying, is secured upon the cover 2b by pins 1b and then enclosed in a perforated plastics dome 10. A current of hot air from the fan and heater is passed through the holder to dry the wig. The dome 10 may have hooks 12 for carrying hair pieces to be dried.
