The disclosure of the present patent application relates to wigs, toupees, and hairpieces, and particularly to a wig with recloseable part-revealing slit.
Many persons afflicted by baldness or thinning hair resort to wearing a wig or toupee for cosmetic reasons. A wig has a wig cap (also referred to as a base or foundation) and hairs attached to the wig cap by machine or hand stitching. The naturalness of the wig is often affected by the manner in which a part in the hair is simulated. Some wigs use a flesh-colored wig cap to simulate the look of the scalp, while others use a thin, transparent lace portion through which the scalp is visible. Other wigs are made with a U-shaped notch or a portion that may be cut out and removed from the wig cap where a part would be located in order to expose the wearer's scalp or natural hair part, when feasible. A problem with such solutions is that flesh-colored or transparent lace caps are often visible to the naked eye, and U-shaped notches or cutouts often leave the wig hair wefts or hair knots exposed, making it obvious that a wig or toupee is being used to conceal hair loss. To date, a wig or toupee that permits the wearer to optionally reveal the wearer's natural scalp or hairline at a part in the hair or to close the gap or notch in the wig cap for full coverage, depending upon changes in the wearer's natural hairline, is not known in the art. Thus, a wig with recloseable part-revealing slit solving the aforementioned problems is desired.
The wig with recloseable part-revealing slit includes a form-fitting wig cap of vented stretch lace having a 0.5″×3″ slit extending posteriorly from the front border to form or optionally reveal a natural center or side part. The wig has comb clips attached beneath the wig cap on opposite sides of the slit so that the slit may be completely closed by fastening the clips together when 100% coverage of the scalp is needed or desired. Alternatively, the clips may be left unfastened to leave the slit open ⅛″ to 1″ to reveal the natural scalp or hair part, when desired. Wig hair wefts adjacent the slit are also attached beneath the wig cap, and the wig hair (and natural hair, when appropriate) is folded over through the slit and combed above the wig cap to the side the wig hair weft is attached so that hair wig wefts and wig hair knots adjacent the slit are not visible while wearing the wig, leaving a hair part with a natural appearance.
These and other features of the present subject matter will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification.
Similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the attached drawings.

Thus, the wig with recloseable part-revealing slit provides the user with a simple but elegant solution to the problem of altering the appearance of the wearer's hair in response to changes in the condition of the wearer's natural hair or scalp or to satisfy his/her whim without revealing that the wearer is concealing hair loss by wearing a wig or toupee.
It is to be understood that the wig with recloseable part-revealing slit is not limited to the specific embodiments described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the generic language of the following claims enabled by the embodiments described herein, or otherwise shown in the drawings or described above in terms sufficient to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the claimed subject matter.
