Claims
- 1. Window structure comprising a frame having jamb members and at least one sash within the frame movable within the plane of the frame and pivot lock structure movable between two limiting positions thereof for securing the sash in one position of the sash within the frame in one limiting position of the pivot lock structure and for permitting movement of the sash within the plane of the frame in another limiting position thereof which pivot lock structure includes a lever, pivot means mounting the lever centrally thereof to one jamb adjacent the sash in the one position of the sash, said lever having a back forming an obtuse angle of greater than 180.degree. with the apex of the angle substantially at the pivot means, said lever being mounted on the jamb by the pivot means in relation to the sash so that one end of the lever extends into the path of movement of the sash in the plane of the frame with the back of the other end of the lever in flush, surface to surface engagement with the jamb with the lever in one limiting position thereof and with the lever pivoted in the opposite direction to place the lever in the opposite limiting position the back of the one end of the lever is in flush, surface to surface engagement with the jamb and the front surface of the lever is substantially parallel to the plane of the frame and the entire lever is out of the path of movement of the sash in the plane of the frame.
- 2. Structure as set forth in claim 1, wherein the pivot means has a horizontal axis, the frame is positioned vertically, the sash is movable vertically in the plane of the frame and the lever is vertically positioned on the jamb to pivot about the horizontal axis of the pivot means.
- 3. Structure as set forth in claim 1, and further including over center means secured between the lever and frame for maintaining the lever in either limiting, pivoted position thereof.
- 4. Structure as set forth in claim 3, wherein the over center means includes a circular guide in the back of the lever, offset toward the end of the lever away from the from the sash in the one position thereof and a helical spring postioned in the circular guide at one end and engaging the jamb at the other end.
- 5. Structure as set forth in claim 1, wherein the pivot means comprises a part circular, cylindrical recess in the front of the lever substantially centrally thereof, a bearing sleeve within the part circular cylindrical recess and a screw extending through the bearing sleeve and into the jamb having an enlarged head thereon extending radially outwardly of the bearing sleeve.
- 6. Structure as set forth in claim 1, wherein the frame is a thermal break window frame including a generally rectangular outer frame portion, a generally rectangular inner frame portion, and an insulating member positioned between the inner and outer frame portions and cooperable therewith for rigidly securing the frame portions together into a prime window frame without contact between the inner and outer frame portions.
