Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention

This invention relates generally to wine bottles, and more particularly to a wine bottle having a double bottle construction with an inner bottle and an outer bottle, and a decorative fluid disposed therebetween.

Description of Related Art

Wine bottles typically have a single glass wall construction that includes a base (or heel) which may include a punt, an upwardly extending sidewall, typically cylindrical, which extends upwardly to a shoulder, which narrows to a neck that extends to an opening. The wine bottle contains wine or other beverage.

There is always a need in the market for beautiful packaging that is eye-catching. The prior art does not teach a wine bottle that includes a double bottle construction that contains a decorative fluid disposed therebetween. The present invention fulfills these needs and provides further advantages as described in the following summary.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention teaches certain benefits in construction and use which give rise to the objectives described below.

The present invention provides a bottle for holding a liquid such as wine. The bottle includes an outer bottle having a base, an upwardly extending wall that extends to a shoulder, which then narrows to a neck that extends to a mouth, the outer bottle between the base and the shoulder having an inner diameter. An inner bottle is disposed within the outer bottle, at least a portion of the inner bottle having an outer diameter that is smaller than the inner diameter of the outer bottle, thereby forming a gap chamber between the inner and outer bottles. A decorative liquid at least partially filling the gap chamber, the decorative liquid having a carrier fluid and a glitter material.

In one embodiment, the wine bottle has an outer bottle having an inner diameter, and an inner bottle disposed within the outer bottle, with a gap chamber formed between the inner and outer bottles. A decorative liquid at least partially filling the gap chamber, the decorative liquid having a carrier fluid and a glitter material.

A primary objective of the present invention is to provide a wine bottle having advantages not taught by the prior art.

Another objective is to provide a bottle provide a decorative liquid in a gap chamber around the wine bottle, for catching the eye of a consumer.

A further objective is to provide a bottle that provides a beautiful external aesthetic that is dynamic, attractive, and effective in increasing sales of products sold in the bottle.

Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following more detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, which illustrate, by way of example, the principles of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The accompanying drawings illustrate the present invention.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a bottle according to one embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a sectional view thereof taken along line 2-2 in FIG. 1, only with a closure and a finish of the bottle removed for clarity.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The above-described drawing figures illustrate the invention, a bottle for holding a liquid such as wine that is constructed to provide a decorative liquid in a gap chamber around the bottle.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a bottle 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the bottle 10 may be in the form of a wine bottle, including an outer bottle 20 that is of generally standard construction for a wine bottle, having a base 22, an upwardly extending wall 26 that extends to a shoulder 27, which then narrows to a neck 28 that extends to a mouth 30 (best shown in FIG. 2). The neck 28 may include an annulus and other similar features. In this embodiment, the upwardly extending wall 26 is cylindrical and has a height H1 at the shoulder that more than ½ of the total height H2 of the bottle 10 (in this embodiment, the total height H2 is about 345 mm.

The base 22 may include a punt 24 that functions to strengthen the bottle 10. The wine bottle 10 may include a closure 32 for covering the mouth 30, and a finish 34 for covering a top portion 36 of the wine bottle 10, above the shoulder, both for properly sealing the wine bottle 10, and also for providing a tamper evident feature that shows whether the wine bottle 10 has previously been opened. While this embodiment illustrates one version of the bottle 10, in alternative embodiments, other shapes and sizes may also be used, and should be considered within the scope of the present invention.

As shown in FIG. 1, the outer bottle 20 is transparent or translucent so that a glitter material 52 of a decorative liquid 50 (best shown in FIG. 2) is visible through the outer bottle 20. The swirling and sparkling of the glitter material 52 draws the eyes of consumers, as mentioned above, so that the wine bottle 10 is more likely to be purchased, and it also provides an interesting topic of conversation about this feature of the wine bottle 10. Other features, such as a label (paper, or printed on the bottle), and other elements may also be included, although not shown in the current embodiment.

FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the bottle 10 taken along line 2-2 in FIG. 1, only with a closure 32 and a finish 34 of the bottle 10 removed for clarity. As shown in FIG. 2, there is an inner bottle 40 disposed within the outer bottle 20. At least a portion of the inner bottle 40 has an outer diameter D1 that is smaller than the inner diameter D2 of the outer bottle 20, thereby forming a gap chamber 42 between the inner and outer bottles 40 and 20. In this embodiment, the inner bottle 40 closely conforms to the size and shape of the outer bottle 20, having a base 44 with a punt 45, an upwardly extending wall 46 that extends to a shoulder 47, which then narrows to a neck 48 which joins with the neck 28 or mouth 30 of the outer bottle 20. In alternative embodiments, however, the inner bottle 40 does not have to conform in this manner, and could potentially be a simple cylindrical shape, or any other shape desired by the bottle designer, so long as it fits inside the outer bottle 20.

As shown in FIG. 2, a decorative liquid 50 at least partially fills the gap chamber 42. The decorative liquid 50 includes a carrier fluid and a glitter material 52. The glitter material 52 (e.g., metallic dust, acrylic dust, gold powder, etc.) is visible through the outer bottle.

In this embodiment, the outer bottle 20 and the gap chamber 42 are both coaxially disposed about an axis A of the inner bottle 40. The inner bottle 40 and the outer bottle 20, in this embodiment, each have a wall thickness of about 2-3 mm, although this thickness may obviously be varied according to the design of the particular wine bottle 10, and any sizes, shapes, and thicknesses should be considered within the scope of the present invention. In this embodiment, the outer diameter D1 of the inner bottle is about 72 mm, and the inner diameter D2 of the outer bottle is about 83.4 mm, so that the gap chamber 42 is about 12.3 mm in width.

In this embodiment, the decorative liquid 50 includes a carrier fluid that includes, in this embodiment, mineral oil and vegetable oil. In the current embodiment, the carrier fluid is about 60% mineral oil and about 40% vegetable oil, by volume. In alternative embodiments, however, other percentages of oils may be used, and/or other fluids may be used, and should be considered within the scope of the present invention. In this embodiment, the glitter material 52 is gold powder, which may be colored to any desired color. It has been found that 60% mineral oil, 40% vegetable oil, and gold powder provides superior performance for this particular product.

As shown in FIG. 2, an inner chamber 60 of the inner bottle is formed for containing a liquid 62. The liquid 62 may be a consumable liquid such as wine, or any other drink known in the art, or it may be some other form of liquid.

The title of the present application, and the claims presented, do not limit what may be claimed in the future, based upon and supported by the present application. Furthermore, any features shown in any of the drawings may be combined with any features from any other drawings to form an invention which may be claimed.
