Claims
- 1. A board game apparatus comprising:
- a game board including a rectangular matrix of lettered spaces;
- a first group and a second group of player position markers, with said player position markers of said first group having a different color than said player position markers of said second group to provide for differentiation by a first player and a second player;
- each said group of player position markers comprising a plurality of different types of player position markers with each of said different types of player position markers having a different shape and form, with each said group of player position markers having like numbers and kinds of said different types of player position markers, at least some of said player position markers include means providing for the cooperating lateral interfit of said player position markers with one another; and
- a scoresheet, whereby
- said first group of player position markers is placed upon a number of said lettered spaces of said game board in a starting array and said second group of player position markers is placed upon said number of said lettered spaces of said game board and opposite said first group of player position markers, said player position markers are alternatingly moved by the players to specific said lettered spaces of said game board to form words by means of letters of the alphabet within said lettered spaces, and points accrued by means of said moved player position markers are recorded upon said scoresheet.
- 2. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said rectangular matrix of lettered spaces of said game board comprises a thirteen by thirteen pattern of said lettered spaces having a total of 169 said lettered spaces.
- 3. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- each of said lettered spaces of said game board contains an upper case block letter of the Roman alphabet.
- 4. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- each of said lettered spaces of said game board contains two diagonally opposite and oppositely facing identical upper case block letters of the Roman alphabet.
- 5. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- the center of each of said lettered spaces of said game board contains an upper case block letter of the Roman alphabet, and
- two diagonally opposite and oppositely facing identical upper case block letters of the Roman alphabet with said diagonally opposite letters being relatively smaller than said letters of said center of each of said lettered spaces.
- 6. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said matrix of lettered spaces includes at least one each of the vowels and consonants comprising the Roman alphabet.
- 7. The board game apparatus of claim 6 wherein:
- said lettered spaces containing vowels are differently shaded than said lettered spaces containing consonants.
- 8. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said first group and said second group of player position markers each comprise five different types of said player position markers, with each of said five different types characterized by a specific shape designating a specific pattern of movement.
- 9. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- at least some of said player position markers include means providing for the vertical stacking of one of said player position markers atop another of said player position markers.
- 10. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said means providing for the cooperating lateral interfit of said player position markers with one another comprises at least one of said different types of player position markers including a plurality of vertical extensions in a lateral array, and at least one other of said different types of player position markers including a cooperating vertical slot.
- 11. The board game apparatus of claim 1 wherein:
- said score sheet includes a plurality of rows,
- each row including a first plurality of spaces for the recording of points accrued, a second plurality of spaces for the recording of the letter claimed, and a third plurality of spaces for the recording of engagement in conflict between one of said player position markers of said first group and one of said player position markers of said second group.
