The disclosure relates to word games and more particularly pertains to a new word game for education and entertainment.
The prior art relates to word games and particularly word games with tiles and tile holders. Existing games include tile holders to support tiles for each player and are typically separate from the game board. The game boards for existing games are typically fixed and are not easily rotatable during gameplay.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a game board having a board top side, a board bottom side, and a board perimeter. The board top side has a central play portion. A plurality of letter tiles includes three alphabet sets of twenty-six letter tiles. Each alphabet set contains one letter tile with each letter of the alphabet. A tile box contains the plurality of letter tiles. There is a tile cup, a plurality of writing panel, a plurality of dry erase markers, a score pad, and a pencil.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A plurality of holder racks 24 is coupled to the board top side 14. Each holder rack 24 is coupled between the central play portion 20 and the board perimeter 18. Each rack 24 has a rack base 26 extending from the central play portion 20 to the board perimeter 18, a back ridge 28 adjacent the central play portion 20, a medial ridge 30 on the rack base 26, and a front ridge 32 adjacent the board perimeter 18.
A plurality of letter tiles 34 includes three alphabet sets of twenty-six letter tiles. Each alphabet set containing one letter tile 34 with each letter of the alphabet. A tile box 36 contains the plurality of letter tiles 34. A tile cup 38 is used to randomize the plurality of letter tiles 34.
A plurality of writing panels 40 may be supported on the back ridge 28 and against the medial ridge 30 of the holder racks. Each writing panel 40 is an elongate rectangle and may be plasticized or otherwise treated to serve as a dry erase writing surface. A plurality of dry erase markers 42 may be supported between the medial ridge 30 and the front ridge 32 of the holder racks. The plurality of dry erase markers 42 are used to write on the plurality of writing panels 40. A plurality of cleaning cloths 44 is included to remove writing from the plurality of writing panels 40. A score pad 46 and a pencil 48 may also be included.
In use, the word game apparatus 10 allows for a method of gameplay 50. A step 51 comprises having the word game apparatus 10. A step 52 includes placing one alphabet set of the plurality of letter tiles 34 face down. The face down alphabet set henceforth being referred to as the pile. A step 54 comprises scrambling the pile. A step 56 includes each player selecting three letter tiles 34 from the pile. A step 58 comprises each player writing a word with the dry erase marker 42 on the writing panel 40. The word includes the letter of at least one of the selected three letter tiles 34. A step 60 includes each player placing the writing panel 40 on the game board 12. If the writing panels 40 show words with duplicate letters, a step 62 comprises drawing the duplicate letters on letter tiles 34 of the remaining two alphabet sets and adding them to the pile face down. A step 64 comprises a player taking a turn drawing one letter tile 34 from the pile and placing the letter tile on the central play portion 20 of the game board in front of the writing panel 40 showing a word having the selected letter. A step 66 comprises advancing clockwise to the next player and repeating step 64 until either all words shown on the writing panels 40 are spelled with letter tiles 34 on the central play portion 20 or until there are no more letter tiles 34 in the pile.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
