Claims
- 1. In an article and pallet carrier system in which articles are transferred to and from pallets, means for loading articles into said pallets, and for unloading articles from said pallets, comprising:
- A. an endless conveyor disposed in a generally vertical direction,
- B. drive means to move said conveyor,
- C. one or more first conveying members spaced along said conveyor shaped to receive and carry pallets,
- D. one or more second conveying members shaped to receive and carry articles and spaced along said conveyor in a periodic sequence with said first conveying members,
- E. means associated with said conveyor for transferring articles from and to said second conveying members in response to movement of the conveyor,
- F. means associated with said conveyor for removing and adding said pallets from and to said first conveying members in response to movement of conveyor, and
- G. means associated with said conveyor and responsive to its movement for transferring said articles from said article conveying members to said pallets, and for transferring said articles from said pallets to said article conveying members.
- 2. In an article and pallet carrier system in which articles are transferred to and from pallets, means for loading articles into said pallets, and for unloading articles from said pallets, comprising:
- A. an endless conveyor disposed in a generally vertical direction,
- B. drive means for driving said conveyor in one direction for loading articles into said pallets, and for driving said conveyor in the opposite direction for unloading articles from said pallets,
- C. one or more pallet conveying members spaced along said conveyor,
- D. one or more article conveying members spaced along said conveyor in periodic sequential positions with said pallet conveying members,
- E. means adjacent said conveyor for removing and adding articles from and to said conveyor,
- F. means adjacent said conveyor for adding empty pallets to said conveyor,
- G. means adjacent said conveyor for removing empty pallets from said conveyor,
- H. means adjacent said conveyor for adding article loaded pallets to said conveyor, and
- I. means adjacent said conveyor for removing article loaded pallets from said conveyor,
- said adding and removing means being operative in response to movement of said conveyor,
- whereby when said endless conveyor operates in one direction, said article conveying members pick up articles at said article support member and said pallet conveying members pick up empty pallets at said first support member, and whereby a pallet conveying member deposits an empty pallet on said second support member and the following article conveying member deposits an article into said pallet on said second support member, thereby loading said pallet, and
- whereby when said endless conveyor operates in the opposite direction, said article conveying members pick up said articles from pallets on said support member and the following pallet conveying members pick up empty pallets from said second support member, and said pallet conveying members deposit pallets on said first support member, and said article conveying members deposit said articles on said article support member, thereby unloading said pallets.
