Claims
- 1. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body comprising wound alternating layers of smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips surrounded by a jacket tube, said jacket tube having a cross section other than circular and oval; the exhaust gas catalyst carrier body wound from said smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips filling out the cross section of the jacket tube in such a manner as if it has been wound tightly from the outside inwardly; the winding having a center disposed in vicinity of the center of a largest circle which can be inscribed within the cross section.
- 2. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body according to claim 1 wherein the cross-sectional area within said jacket tube is subdivided into subareas having cross sections other than circular and oval which are filled out with smooth and corrugated sheetmetal.
- 3. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body comprising wound alternating layers of smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips surrounded by a jacket tube, said jacket tube having a substantially triangular cross section; the exhaust gas catalyst carrier body wound from said smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips filling out the cross section of the jacket tube in such a manner as if it had been wound tightly from the outside inwardly; the winding having a center disposed in vicinity of the center of the largest circle which can be inscribed within the cross section.
- 4. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body according to claim 3, wherein the substantially triangular cross section of said jacket tube has rounded corners.
- 5. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body comprising wound alternating layers of smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips surrounded by a jacket tube, said jacket tube having an at least partly triangular cross section; the exhaust gas catalyst carrier body wound from said smooth and corrugated sheetmetal strips filling out the cross section of the jacket tube in such a manner as if it had been wound tightly from the outside inwardly; the winding having a center disposed in vicinity of the center of the largest circle which can be inscribed within the cross section.
- 6. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body according to claim 5, wherein the at least partly triangular cross section of said jacket tube includes two triangular portions and a trapezoidal portion.
- 7. Metallic wound exhaust gas catalyst carrier body according to claim 6, wherein the two triangular portions of the cross section of said jacket tube have a constriction therebetween.
