The present invention pertains to the field of home decor, and more specifically to the field of decorative bottles and vases.
Millions of Americans enjoy decorating their home or work space with simple pieces of art. Providing a stylish means of accentuating walls, floors, tables and other surface areas, decorative art work provides a practical way for residential dwellers to place a personal stamp on their home. In particular, many individuals enjoy a simple beauty and casual elegance provided by handmade crafts. From handcrafted pottery and delicate blown glass to woven rugs or hand pulled screen prints, artistic pieces provide a striking focal point for any room. Many types of hand crafted goods enable residential inhabitants to enjoy a plethora of decorative options that bring a sense of beauty and warmth to their surroundings.
The prior art has put forth several designs for decorative bottles and vases. Among these are:
US Patent Publication 2013/0200091 to Miranda Scott-Womack describes an encasement apparatus positioned around a glass jar or other container utensil counterpart, closed at an end and having an adjoined handle like portion for hands to slip beneath snugly. The encasement apparatus is a woven knit formed of a fabric like material, whereby appropriating as an enrobed structure around the container counterpart. The apparatus is reusable, durable, and washable. The apparatus facilitates function, comfort, and aesthetic appeal as well as a degree of insulation if container counterpart contains hot or cold contents during intended use.
U.S. Pat. No. 1,821,504 to Feiler Saul describes an interweaving of strung beads to produce all or any part of the bodies of various types articles such as lamps, vases, chandeliers, chandelier globes, pocket books, jewelry boxes, furniture, baby carriages and similar articles wherein woven reed or cane previously was used. The beads are strung in advance on one of the aforementioned article types. The beads are made of glass, steel or any other suitable material capable of producing the desired light, shade and variegated color effects. The beads are woven to be substantially self-sustaining against shocks and distortion.
U.S. Pat. No. 1,786,141 to George L Wilson describes a flower vase comprising a conical sheet metal base and inverted conical sheet metal receptacle secured within the open top of the base and flaring upwards therefrom. A woven wicker covering encases and closely fits the base and receptacle. A second embodiment is a flower vase also comprising a conical sheet metal base and inverted conical sheet metal receptacle secured within the open top of said base and flaring upwards therefrom. The second embodiment comprises reinforcing beads formed in the base and said receptacle adjacent the larger ends thereof and a woven wicker covering encasing and closely fitting the base and receptacle.
None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a line of bottles and vases containing decanter vessels that are beautifully structured and adorned with a handcrafted weaving technique around an entire surface of a designated vessel.
In addition, the present invention is a vessel with the vessel having an outer surface and an opening formed in the outer surface. A woven cover covers the vessel. The opening of the vessel is free from the woven cover. The entire outer surface of the vessel is covered by the woven cover. The woven material rests flush against the vessel.
The present invention, hereinafter referred to as a Woven Bottle and Vase Cover, indicated generally at 10, is a line of bottle and vase covers containing decanter vessels 12 that are beautifully structured and adorned with the handcrafted weaving technique around an entire surface of a designated vessel 12. The Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 is artfully constructed to provide individuals with a striking decorative and functional accessory for their home.
Each bottle, vase or decanter 12 is adorned with a handcrafted, woven material 14 of the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 of the present invention that covers the entire exterior of the vessel 12. The vessels 12 are comprised of a hand blown or molded glass material. The Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 is configured and constructed in a variety of shapes and sizes woven about bottles and vases 12 of a variety of shapes and sizes. While the bottles may be a simple style comprising a cylindrical base and long neck, the vases may be a bell shape comprising a small circular base and wide mouth, and the decanters may be in a volute or column style, any type, style, or size of the bottle, the vase, or the decanter is within the scope of the present invention.
The most notable aspect of the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 of the present invention is found in the handcrafted embellishments. A particularly unique weaving technique is incorporated into each piece. The surface of each vessel 12 is covered in a tightly woven material 14 such as twine, grass, straw or cloth. This woven material 14 is wrapped about the exterior of the vessel, resting flush against the glass and encompassing the surface of the vessel 14 completely. A number of patterns are incorporable into the weave and various shades of material are utilized to create a number of striking designs. The interior of the decanter vessel 12 remains free of woven material 14 and is employed in the same manner as a traditional bottle or vase.
Using the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 of the present invention is simple and straight forward. A user selects the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 in a desired size, shape, and pattern. One user may select an elegant Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 to place on a fireplace mantle. Another user may select several vessels 12 from the line including bottles and vases in a variety of shapes with different woven patterns. These vessels 12 are placed together or throughout the home to accentuate various surface areas. Fully functional, the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 or the vase within the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 is fillable with fresh or dry flowers, stalks of pussy willow or other decorative finery. Durably and beautifully constructed, the Woven Bottle and Vase Cover 10 will provide many years of decorative and functional use.
Although this invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments, it is not intended to be limited thereto and various modifications which will become apparent to the person of ordinary skill in the art are intended to fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as described herein taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the appended claims.
