Claims
- 1. A writing instrument comprising; a front tubular member having a writing tip at the front end thereof; advancing means axially displaceable in forward and rearward directions for incrementally advancing a writing medium lengthwise in the forward direction through the writing tip in response to forward axial displacement of the advancing means; an inner tubular member comprised of a writing medium storage tank and a tubular body, the tubular body having a front portion disposed within and encircled by a portion of the front tubular member and having a rear portion; a rear tubular member disposed over and encircling the rear portion of the tubular body of the inner tubular member; means mounting the rear tubular member and tubular body of the inner tubular member for axial displacement together as a unit in forward and rearward directions relative to the front tubular member to effect forward axial displacement of the advancing means to thereby incrementally advance the writing medium; means mounting the rear tubular member for angular displacement in opposite directions relative to the front tubular member and tubular body of the inner tubular member; the tubular body of the inner tubular member including a bearing plate formed on a forward inner surface thereof, said bearing plate contacting a rear end of said writing medium storage tank so that the bearing plate pushes said writing medium storage tank in a forward direction to advance a writing medium in a forward direction through said writing tip; holding means disposed within the tubular body of the inner tubular member for releasably holding an elongate eraser; and means mounting the holding means to undergo axial displacement in forward and rearward directions within the tubular body of the inner tubular member in response to angular displacement of the rear tubular member in opposite directions to thereby axially retract and extend the elongate eraser relative to the rear end of the rear tubular member.
- 2. A writing instrument according to claim 1, wherein the rear tubular member and the tubular body are detachable together as a unit from the front tubular member.
- 3. A writing instrument according to claim 1, wherein a rear portion of said writing medium storage tank is surrounded y an inner surface of a front portion of the tubular by an inner surface of a front portion of the tubular body.
- 4. A writing instrument according to claim 1, including an annular stopper formed on a rear end of said inner tubular member, said annular stopper allowing angular displacement of said inner tubular member relative to said rear tubular member and restricting axial displacement of said inner tubular member relative to said rear tubular member.
- 5. A writing instrument according to claim 1 including a clip integrally formed on an outer surface of said rear tubular member.
- 6. A writing instrument according to claim 1, wherein a rear end of said writing medium storage tank is substantially flush with a rear end of said front tubular member.
- 7. A writing instrument according to claim 1, wherein a rear end of a writing medium storage tank projects beyond a rear end of the front tubular member.
- 8. A pencil comprising front and rear tubular members; a pencil tip connected to a front end of the front tubular member; lead advancing means axially displaceable in forward and rearward directions for incrementally advancing a pencil lead lengthwise in a forward direction through the pencil tip in response to forward axial displacement of the lead-advancing means; an inner tubular member comprised of a lead writing medium storage tank and a tubular body; means mounting the rear tubular member for axial displacement in forward and rearward directions relative to the front tubular member to effect forward axial displacement of the lead-advancing means to incrementally advance the pencil lead, said means mounting the rear tubular member for axial displacement relative to the front tubular member comprises the tubular body of the inner tubular member having a front portion extending axially within the front tubular member and a rear portion extending axially within the rear tubular member, means connecting the rear and inner tubular members for axial displacement together as a unit, and means mounting the tubular body of the inner tubular member for axial displacement within the front tubular member; advancing means to incrementally advance the pencil lead; means mounting the rear tubular member for angular displacement in opposite directions about a longitudinal axis relative to the front tubular member; the tubular body of said inner tubular member has a bearing plate formed on a forward inner surface thereof, said bearing place contacting a rear end of a lead storage tank so that the bearing plate pushes the lead storage tank in a forward direction to advance a writing medium in a forward direction; holding means disposed within the rear tubular member for releaseably holding an elongate eraser; and means mounting the holding means to undergo axial displacement in forward and rearward direction within the rear tubular member in response to the angular displacement of the rear tubular member in opposite directions to thereby axially extend and retract the eraser relative to a rear end of the rear tubular member.
- 9. A pencil according to claim 8 wherein the rear tubular member and tubular body of said inner tubular member are detachable together as a unit from the front tubular member.
- 10. A pencil according to claim 8, wherein a rear portion of a lead storage tank is surrounded by an inner surface of the front portion of the tubular body of the inner tubular member.
- 11. A pencil according to claim 8, including an annular stopper formed on a rear end of the inner tubular member for allowing angular displacement of the inner tubular member relative to the rear tubular member and for restricting axial displacement of the inner tubular member relative to the rear tubular member.
- 12. A pencil according to claim 8, including a clip integrally formed on an outer surface of the rear tubular member.
- 13. A pencil according to claim 8, wherein a rear end of said lead storage tank is substantially flush with a rear end of the front tubular member.
- 14. A pencil according to claim 8, wherein a rear end of said lead storage tank projects beyond a rear end of the front tubular member.
