Claims
- 1. A staple yarn comprising a blend of 35 to 90 weight percent fluoropolymer fiber and 65 to 10 weight percent of one or more types of blend fiber.
- 2. The yarn of claim 1 wherein the blend is from 35 to 75 weight percent fluoropolymer and from 65 to 25 weight percent blend fiber.
- 3. The yarn of claim 1 wherein the blend is from 35 to 65 weight percent fluoropolymer and from 65 to 35 weight percent blend fiber.
- 4. The yarn of claim 1 wherein the fluoropolymer is selected from the group consisting of poly(tetrafluoroethylene), fluorinated olefinic polymers, copolymers of tetrafluoro-ethylene and hexafluoropropene, copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkyl-vinyl esters, and copolymers of perfluoroethyl-vinyl ether and fluorinated olefinic terpolymers.
- 5. The yarn of claim 3 wherein the fluoropolymer is selected from the group consisting of poly(tetrafluoroethylene), fluorinated olefinic polymers, copolymers of tetrafluoro-ethylene and hexafluoropropene, copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkyl-vinyl esters, and copolymers of perfluoroethyl-vinyl ether and fluorinated olefinic terpolymers.
- 6. The yarn of claim 1 wherein the blend fiber is selected from fibers from the group consisting of polyesters, polyamides, aromatic polyamides, polypropylenes, polyethylenes and their copolymers, cotton, rayon, and wool, poly(para-phenylene terephthalamide), poly (meta phenylene isophthalamide), poly(para-phenylene benzobisoxazole, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, anisotropic melt polyesters, carbon fibers, metal fibers, glass fibers and metal-coated para-aramid fibers.
- 7. The yarn of claim 3 wherein the blend fiber is selected from fibers from the group consisting of polyesters, polyamides, aromatic polyamides, polypropylenes, polyethylenes and their copolymers, cotton, rayon, and wool, poly(para-phenylene terephthalamide), poly(meta phenylene isophthalamide), poly(para-phenylene benzobisoxazole, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, anisotropic melt polyesters, carbon fibers, metal fibers, glass fibers and metal-coated para-aramid fibers.
- 8. The yarn of claim 1, 2 or 3 wherein the blend fiber is poly(para-phenylene terephthalamide) or poly(meta phenylene isophthalamide).
- 9. A low friction wound product comprising the yarn of claims 1, 2 or 3.
- 10. A fabric for load bearing applications comprising the yarn of claim 1, 2 or 3.
- 11. A bearing, bushing or seal comprising a yarn containing fluoropolymer fibers and blend fibers wherein the fluoropolymer fibers represent from 35 to 90 weight percent of the yarn and blend fibers represent 65 to 10 weight percent of the yarn.
- 12. A bearing, bushing, or seal comprising a yarn containing fluoropolymer fibers and blend fibers wherein the fluoropolymer fibers represent from 35 to 90 weight percent of the yarn and blend fibers represent 65 to 10 weight percent of the yarn.
- 13. A bearing, bushing, or seal comprising a yarn containing fluoropolymer fibers and blend fibers wherein the fluoropolymer fibers represent from 35 to 65 weight percent of the yarn and blend fibers represent 65 to 35 weight percent of the yarn.
- 14. A bearing or bushing comprising a yarn containing fluoropolymer fibers and blend fibers wherein the fluoropolymer fibers represent from 10 to 90 weight percent of the yarn and blend fibers represent 90 to 10 weight percent of the yarn.
- 15. A yarn comprising a continuous filament yarn and a blend of staple fibers wherein the staple fibers comprise from 35 to 90 weight percent fluoropolymer fiber and 65 to 10 weight percent of one or more types of blend fiber.
- 16. The yarn of claim 15 wherein the one or more continuous filament yarns are substantially wrapped by the staple fibers.
- 17. The yarn of claim 15 wherein the one or more continuous filament yarns substantially wrap the staple fibers.
- 18. A bearing, bushing, or seal made using the yarn of claim 15.
- 19. A bearing, bushing, or seal made using the yarn of claim 16.
- 20. A bearing, bushing, or seal made using the yarn of claim 17.
