Claims
- 1. A catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas to remove nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons from exhaust gas comprising
(i) a zeolite having a silica/alumina ratio of greater than 55 (ii) at least 1.5%, by weight, each of nickel and cobalt incorporated therein.
- 2. The catalyst of claim 1 comprising an additional an adsorber component comprising
a mixture of gamma alumina support and a adsorber material selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal hydroxides, metal carbonates, mixed metal oxides and pillared clays
- 3. The catalyst of claim 1 wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of Group IA and Group IIA metals, lanthanum and manganese.
- 4. The catalyst of claim 3 wherein the adsorber material is selected from the group consisting of SrO, BaO, CaO, K2O, BaTiO3, BaZrO3, MnO2 LaMnO2-4, and mixtures of La2O3 and CeO with TiO2 and ZrO2.
- 5. The catalyst of claim 4, wherein the adsorber material is BaO or K2O or mixtures thereof.
- 6. The catalyst of claim 2 wherein the adsorber material is mixed metal oxide perovskite material of either BaMgCu2O6 or LaBaSrFe2O6.
- 7. The catalyst of claim 2 wherein the gamma alumina support includes a stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of lanthanum oxide, barium oxide, strontium oxide and yttrium oxide.
- 8. The catalyst of claim 1 wherein the catalyst exhibits a surface area of at least 200 m2/g.
- 9. The catalyst of claim 1 wherein the catalyst exhibits a surface area of at least 300 m2/g.
- 10. A catalyst as claimed in claim 1 wherein the catalyst is an extruded honeycomb structure exhibiting at least 400 cells/in2 and exhibiting a modulus of rupture of at least 1500 psi.
- 11. A adsorber/catalyst system for purifying an exhaust gas to remove nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons from exhaust gas comprising
(i) a zeolite having a silica/alumina ratio of greater than 55 (ii) at least 1.5%, by weight, each of nickel and cobalt incorporated therein (iii) an adsorber component comprising a mixture of gamma alumina support and a adsorber material selected from the group consisting of metal oxides, metal hydroxides, metal carbonates, mixed metal oxides, and pillared clays.
- 12. The adsorbent /catalyst system of claim 11 comprising at least about 30%, by weight, zeolite.
- 13. The adsorbent /catalyst system of claim 11 comprising between about 50-60%, by weight, zeolite.
- 14. The adsorbent/catalyst system of claim 11 wherein the adsorber material metal is selected from the group consisting of Group IA and Group IIA metals, lanthanum and manganese.
- 15. The adsorber/catalyst system of claim 11 wherein the adsorber material is selected from the group consisting of SrO, BaO, CaO, K2O, BaTiO3, BaZrO3, MnO2 LaMnO2-4, and mixtures of La2O3 and CeO with TiO2 and ZrO2.
- 16. The adsorbent/catalyst system of claim 15, wherein the adsorber material is BaO or K2O or mixtures thereof.
- 17. The adsorbent/catalyst system of claim 13 wherein the gamma alumina support material includes a stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of lanthanum oxide, barium oxide, strontium oxide and yttrium oxide.
- 18. The adsorbent/catalyst system of claim 11 wherein adsorber material is a mixed metal oxide perovskite material of either BaMgCu2O6 or LaBaSrFe2O6.
