Claims
- 1. A phthalocyanine of the formula
- (PC)--(SO.sub.2 X.sub.1 --R.sub.1 --X.sup..sym.).sub.v A.sup..crclbar. w,
- wherein PC is the unsubstituted zinc or aluminum phthalocyanine ring system, v is any number from 1 to 4, R.sub.1 is unbranched or branched alkylene of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or 1,3- or 1,4-phenylene, X.sub.1 is NH or N-alkyl, X.sup..sym. is a group of the formula ##STR63## and, if R.sub.1 is alkylene, is also a group of the formula ##STR64## in which formulae each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloakyl or the NR.sub.6 R.sub.7 group, R.sub.5 is alkyl, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 independently is hydrogen or alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, each of R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 independently is an alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, or alkoxy or aralkyl radical, unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, hydroxyl, amino, cyano, sulfo or sulfonamido, m is an integer from 1 to 6, A completes an aromatic 5- to 7-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system which may contain one or two additional nitrogen atoms as ring members and which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, hydroxyl, amion, cyano, sulfo or sulfonamido, and B completes a saturated 5- to 7-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system which may additionally contain 1 or 2 nitrogen, oxygen and/or sulfur atoms as ring members and which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl at one carbon atom or at a further nitrogen atom in the ring, and A.sup..crclbar. is an inorganic or organic anion, w has the same value as v with respect to monovalent anions A.sup..crclbar. and is .ltoreq.v with respect to polyvalent anions, and A.sub.w.sup..crclbar. must balance the positive charge, with the proviso that, if v is .noteq.1, the radicals SO.sub.2 X.sub.1 --R.sub.1 --X.sup..sym. are the same or different, and that the phthalocyanine ring system can contain additional water-solubilizing groups, and that all substitutents are attached to the phenyl nuclei of the phthalocyanine ring system.
- 2. A phthalocyanine according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR65## wherein PC, X.sub.1, X.sup..sym., R.sub.1 and A.sup..crclbar. areas defined in claim 1, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion or amine salt ion, and the sum of x and y is from 1 to 4, and A.sub.w'.sup..crclbar. exactly balances the positive charge of the remaining part part of the molecule.
- 3. A phthalocyanine according to claim 1 of the formula
- (PC--SO.sub.2 NHR.sub.1 '--X'.sup..sym. A'.sup..crclbar.).sub.v,
- wherein Pc is as defined in claim 1, R.sub.1 ' is alkylene of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, v is any number from 1 to 4, X'.sup..sym. is a group of the formula ##STR66## wherein each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl whic is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, cyano, halogen or phenyl, R.sub.4 has the meaning of R.sub.2 and can additionally be cyclohexyl or the amino group, R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.10 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or hydroxyl, and A'.sup..crclbar. is a halide, alkylsulfate or arylsulfonate ion, whilst the radicals --SO.sub.2 NHR.sub.1 '--X.sup..sym. A.sup..crclbar. can be the same or different.
- 4. A phthalocyanine compound of of the formula ##STR67## wherein PC is the unsubstituted zinc or aluminum phthalocyanine ring system, v is any number from 1 to 4, R.sub.1 is unbranched or branched alkylene of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or 1,3- or 1,4-phenylene, X.sub.1 is NH of N-alkyl, X.sup.+ is a group of the formula ##STR68## and, if R.sub.1 is alkylene, is also a group of the formula ##STR69## in which formulae each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl or the NR.sub.6 R.sub.7 group, R.sub.5 is alkyl, each of R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 independently is hydrogen or alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or alkoxy, each of R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 independently is an alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, cyano, phenyl, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, or alkoxy or aralkyl radical, unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, hydroxyl, amino, cyano, sulfo or sulfonamido, m is an integer from 1 to 6, A completes an aromatic 5- to 7-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system which may contain one or two additional nitrogen atoms as ring members and which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy, hydroxyl, amino, cyano, sulfo or sulfonamido, and B completes a saturated 5- to 7-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring system which may additionally contain 1 or 2 nitrogen, oxygen and/or sulfur atoms as ring members and which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl at one carbon atom or at a further nitrogen atom in the ring, and A.sup.- is an inorganic or organic anion, w has the same value as v with respect to monovalent anions A.sup.- and is <v with respect to polyvalent anions, and A.sub.w.sup.- must balance the positive charge, with the proviso that, if v is .noteq.1, the radicals SO.sub.2 X.sub.1 --R.sub.1 --X.sup.+ are the same or different, and that the phthalocyanine ring system can contain additional water-solubilizing groups, and that all substituents are attached to the phenyl nuclei of the phthalocyanine ring system, R.sub.30 is halogen, cyano, alkyl, alkoxy, or phenyl and a is any number from 0.1 to 4, with the radicals R.sub.30 present in the molecule being the same or different.
- 5. A phthalocyanine according to claim 4 of the formula ##STR70## wherein PC, X.sub.1, R.sub.1, X.sup..sym. and A.sup..crclbar. are as defined in claim 4, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion, or amine salt ion, and the sum of x and y is from 1 to 4 and A.sub.w'.sup..crclbar. exactly balances the positive charge of the remaining part of the molecule, and R.sub.30 is halogen, cyano, alkyl, alkoxy or phenyl and a is any number from 0.1 to 4, with the substituents R.sub.30 present in the molecule being the same or different.
- 6. A phthalocyanine compound according to claim 4 of the formula ##STR71## wherein PC is as defined in claim 4, R.sub.1 ' is alkylene of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, v is any number from 1 to 4, X'.sup..sym. is a group of the formula ##STR72## wherein each of R.sub.2 ' and R.sub.3 ' independently is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, cyano, halogen or phenyl, R.sub.4 ' has the same meaning as R.sub.2 ' and can additionally be cyclohexyl or the amino group, R.sub.5 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sub.10 is alkyl or alkoxy, each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halogen, carboxy, carbalkoxy or hydroxyl, and A'.sup..sym. is a halide, alkylsulfate or arylsulfonate ion, while the radicals --SO.sub.2 NHR.sub.1 '--X.sup..sym. A.sup..crclbar. can be the same or different, and wherein R.sub.30 is fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or cyano and a is any number from 0.1 to 4.
- 7. A phthalocyanine compound of claim 4 wherein R.sub.30 is fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine atom or cyano and a is any number from 0.1 to 4, with the radicals R.sub.30 present in the molecule being the same or different.
- 8. A phthalocyanine according to claim 4 of the formula ##STR73## wherein PC, X.sub.1, R.sub.1, X.sup..sym. and A.sup..crclbar. w are as defined in claim 4, M is hydrogen, an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion, or amine salt ion, and the sum of x and y is from 1 to 4, R.sub.30 is a fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine atom or cyano, and a is any number from 0.1 to 4, with the substitutents R.sub.30 present in the molecule being the same or different.
- 9. A phthalocyanine compound according to claim 4 of the formula ##STR74## wherein PC is as defined in claim 4, R.sub.1 ' is alkylene of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, v is any number from 1 to 4, X'.sup..sym. is a group of the formula ##STR75## wherein each of R.sub.2 ' and R.sub.3 ' independently is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, cyano, halogen or phenyl, R.sub.4 ' has the same meaning as R' and can additionally be cyclohexyl or the amino group, R.sub.5 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sub.10 is alkyl or alkoxy, each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halogen, carboxyl, carbalkoxy or hydroxyl, and A'.sup..crclbar. is a halide, alkylsulfate or arylsulfonate ion, while the radicals --SO.sub.2 NHR.sub.1 '--X.sup..sym. A.sup..crclbar. can be the same or different, and wherein R.sub.30 is chlorine and a is a number from 0.5 to 4.
