Claims
- 1. A catalytic isomerization process comprising contacting a feed comprising C.sub.4 or C.sub.4 + paraffins under isomerization conditions, with the catalyst comprising a zirconium hydroxide support, about 0.01 to about 10 wt % of a Group VIII metal, and about 0.01 to about 60 wt % of a heteropolyacid selected from the group consisting of the exchanged aluminum salt of 12-tungstophorphoric acid, the exchanged aluminum salt of 12-tungstosilic acid, and mixtures thereof.
- 2. A catalytic isomerization process according to claim 1, at least a portion of which produces cracked products, wherein when said catalyst is the exchanged aluminum salt of 12-tungstophosphoric acid and platinum on zirconium hydroxide the amount of said cracked products produced at 30% conversion is less than about 10%.
