Claims
- 1. A zone control apparatus for a central heating and/or cooling system having a source of conditioned fluid and respective conduits for directing the conditioned fluid to respective zones for conditioning the environment therein, said apparatus comprising:
- a pressure source,
- a vacuum source,
- a pressure supply line connected to said pressure source,
- a vacuum supply line connected to said vacuum source,
- a cycle period supply line,
- cycle controller means for automatically alternately connecting said pressure source and vacuum source to said cycle period supply line at prescribed times,
- fluidically actuated flow control means for controlling flow of conditioned fluid through a conduit, said flow control means having inlet means for receiving pressure and vacuum for actuation alternately between high and low flow conditions, and
- selector switch means for selectively connecting said inlet means of said flow control means to any one of said pressure supply line, vacuum supply line, and cycle period supply line.
- 2. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein said pressure source includes a first vibration type diaphragm pump and said vacuum source includes a seond vibration type diaphragm pump.
- 3. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein said pressure source, vacuum source and cycle controller means are included in a first module, and said selector switch means is included in a second module mountable to supporting structure independently and remotely from said first module.
- 4. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein said pressure source includes a pressure pump and pressure responsive switch means for activing and deactivating said pressure pump, and said vacuum source includes a vacuum pump and vacuum responsive switch means for activating and deactivating said vacuum pump.
- 5. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, comprising override means for connecting, when actuated, said inlet means of said flow control means to a source of pressure regardless of the position of said selector means to actuate said flow control means to a low flow condition.
- 6. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 5, wherein said override means is actuated automatically by a fire detection device.
- 7. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, comprising a pair of said cycle period supply lines including a first cycle period supply line and a second cycle period supply line; a pair of said cycle controller means including first cycle controller means for automatically alternately connecting said pressure source and vacuum source to said first cycle period supply line at prescribed times and second cycle controller means for automatically alternately connecting said pressure source and vacuum source to said second cycle period supply line at prescribed times; a pair of fluidically actuated flow control means for controlling flow of conditioned fluid through respective conduits; a pair of said selector switch means including first selector switch means for selectively connecting said inlet means of one of said pair of flow control means to any one of said pressure supply line, vacuum supply line and first cycle period supply line, and second selector switch means for selectively connecting said inlet means of the other of said pair of flow control means to any one of said pressure supply line, vacuum supply line and second cycle period supply line.
- 8. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 7, wherein said first selector switch means has a position for selectively connecting the inlet means of said one of said pair of flow control means to said second cycle control line.
- 9. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 8, wherein said second selector switch means has a position for selectively connecting the inlet means of said other of said pair of flow control means to said first cycle period supply line.
- 10. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 7, wherein said pressure source includes a first vibration type diaphragm pump and said vacuum source includes a second vibration type diaphragm pump.
- 11. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 7, wherein said pair of flow control means comprises a fluid expandable bladder.
- 12. A zone control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein said flow control means includes a fluid expandable bladder.
- 13. In combination with a central heating and/or cooling system having a source of conditioned fluid controlled by a thermostat in one energizing circuit for the source of conditioned fluid and respective conduits for directing the conditioned fluid to respective zones for conditioning the environment thereof, a zone control apparatus comprising: a pressure source, a vacuum source, a pressure supply line connected to said pressure source, a vacuum supply line connected to said vacuum source, a cycle period supply line, cycle controller means for automatically alternately connecting said pressure source and vacuum source to said cycle period supply line at prescribed times, at least one fluidically actuated flow control means for controlling flow of conditioned fluid through a respective one of said conduits, said flow control means having inlet means for receiving pressure and vacuum for actuation alternately between high and low flow conditions, and selector switch means for selectively connecting said inlet means of said flow control means to any one of said pressure supply line, vacuum supply line, and cycle period supply line.
