Claims
- 1. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione of the formula I ##STR56## wherein R is C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl;
- R.sub.1 is hydrogen; or halogen;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen; cyano; nitro; or halogen;
- A is hydrogen; cyano; nitro; COR.sub.3 ; XR.sub.4 ; ##STR57## R.sub.3 is halogen; X'-R.sub.5 ; amino; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino; di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino; C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -halogenalkylamino; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -hydroxyalkylamino; di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -hydroxyalkylamino; C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkenylamino; diallylamino; N-pyrrolidino; N-piperidino; N-morpholino; N-thiomorpholino; or N-piperazino;
- R.sub.4 is hydrogen; C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl; halo-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkynyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl; halo-C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkylcarbonyl; allylcarbonyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkylcarbonyl; benzoyl unsubstituted or substituted at the phenyl ring identically or differently up to three times by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy; furanoyl; thiophenoyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl that is substituted by phenyl, halophenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylphenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyphenyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylphenyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyphenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenyloxycarbonyl, C.sub.3 - C.sub.8 -alkynyloxycarbonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylthiocarbonyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenylthiocarbonyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkynylthiocarbonyl, carbamoyl, mono-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylaminocarbonyl, di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylaminocarbonyl, phenylaminocarbonyl, wherein the phenyl ring is unsubstituted or identically or differently substituted up to three times by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halogen-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halogen-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, or the phenyl is monosubstituted by cyano or nitro; dioxan-2-yl which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or two C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl radicals; or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl substituted by cyano, nitro, carboxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkylthio-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkoxycarbonyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkoxy-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkoxycarbonyl;
- X is oxygen; or sulfur;
- X' is oxygen; or sulfur;
- R.sub.5 is hydrogen; C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkylthio-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; cyano-C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl; halogen-C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkynyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; halo-C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl; benzyl which is unsubstituted or substituted in the phenyl ring identically or differently up to three times by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, halo-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy; an alkaline-, alkaline-earth- or an ammonium-ion; or the group ----COOR.sub.7 ;
- R.sub.6 is hydrogen; or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl;
- R.sub.7 is hydrogen; C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl; C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -alkynyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkoxy-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkyl; C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkylthio-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkyl; or C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl;
- R.sub.8 hydrogen; C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; halogen-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl;
- R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 independently of each other are C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl; C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl; or C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkoxyalkyl; or
- R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 together from an ethylene- or propylene-bridge or a 1,2-Cyclohexanyl-ring, which radicals can be unsubstituted or substituted by one or two substitutents selected from among halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -haloalkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -hydroxyalkyl;
- R.sub.11 is hydrogen; C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl; or C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 -alkenyl;
- R.sub.12 is independently of each other hydrogen; or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl;
- n is zero;, 1; 2; 3; or 4;
- or a salt which a compound of formula I can form with an acid or a base, or a stereoisomeric form of a compound of the formula I.
- 2. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, wherein R is cyclopropyl.
- 3. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, of the formula Ib ##STR58## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 have the meanings given in claim 1.
- 4. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, of the formula Ic ##STR59## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.4 and R.sub.8 have the meanings given in claim 1.
- 5. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, of the formula Ig ##STR60## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.8 have the meanings given in claim 1.
- 6. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, of the formula Ih ##STR61## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.4, and X have the meanings given in claim 1.
- 7. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, of the formula Ik ##STR62## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and X' have the meanings given in claim 1.
- 8. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, wherein R.sub.1 is fluorine, R.sub.2 is chlorine and the radicals A and R are as defined in claim 1.
- 9. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1, wherein
- R is cyclopropyl;
- R.sub.1 is fluorine;
- R.sub.2 is chlorine; and
- A is --COOH, --COO--C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, --O--C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, propin-3-yl, 3-methylpropin-3-yl or ##STR63## wherein R.sub.8 is methyl and R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, halo-C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 -alkenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl.
- 10. A 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 9, wherein A is --COOH, --COOCH.sub.3, --COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, --COO(n)C.sub.3 H.sub.7, --COO(n)C.sub.5 H.sub.11, --O--CH.sub.3, --O--C.sub.2 H.sub.5, --O--(i)C.sub.3 H.sub.7, --O--(n)C.sub.4 H.sub.9, --O--(i)C.sub.4 H.sub.9, --O--(sek)C.sub.4 H.sub.9, propin-3-yl, 3-methylpropin-3-yl or ##STR64## wherein R.sub.8 is methyl and R.sub.4 is methyl, 1-chloropropen-3-yl or --CH(CH.sub.3)--COOCH.sub.3.
- 11. A herbicidal composition which contains besides inert carrier material and additives and a wetting agent as active ingredient a herbicidally active amount of a 1-phenyl-piperidine-2,6-dione according to claim 1.
- 12. A method for controlling undesirable plant-growth which comprises applying to the plants to be controlled or their locus, a herbicidally effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 or of a composition containing such a compound.
- 13. A method according to claim 12 for controlling weeds in cultures of sorghum, rice, cotton, soybeans and sun-flowers.
