Claims
- 1. An acylphosphine compound of the formula ##STR18## where R.sup.1 is R.sup.4 or OR.sup.4, R.sup.2 is --O.sup.- M.sup.+, where M.sup.+ is one equivalent of a cation, with an atomic weight of less than 138, of the main groups 1 to 3 of the Periodic Table, or the ammonium ion
- .sup..sym. NR.sup.5 R.sup.6 R.sup.7 R.sup.8 (II)
- where R.sup.8 is hydrogen, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are identical or different and each is hydrogen or straight-chained or branched alkyl of up to 4 C atoms which is unsubstituted or substituted by a hydroxyl group, or is cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl, allyl, phenyl, .beta.-acryloxyethyl or .beta.-methacryloxyethyl or two of these substituents together with the nitrogen to which they are attached form morpholinium, R.sup.3 is a substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical which carries C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkylthio, chloro or bromo substituents at least at the two positions ortho to the carbonyl group, R.sup.4 is hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl of up to 8 carbon atoms, which is unsubstituted or substituted by the group --NR.sup.5 R.sup.6, or is phenyl, cyclohexyl or cyclopentyl, or phenyl which is monosubstituted or trisubstituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio groups of up to 6 carbon atoms, or NR.sup.5 R.sup.6 wherein R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 have the above mentioned meaning or by halogen atoms having an atomic weight of up to 80, and X is oxygen.
- 2. An acylphosphine compound as claimed in claim 1, wherein R.sup.3 is 2,6-dimethylphenyl, 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl, 2,3,6-trimethylphenyl, 2,6-dimethoxyphenyl, 2,6-dichlorophenyl, 2,6-bis-(methylthio)-phenyl, 2,3,5,6-tetramethylphenyl, 1,3-dimethylnaphth-2-yl or 1,3-dimethoxynaphth-2-yl.
- 3. An acylphosphine compound as claimed in claim 2, wherein R.sup.1 is phenyl which is unsubstituted or mono-, di- or trisubstituted.
- 4. An acylphosphine compound as set forth in claim 1, wherein R.sup.1 is phenyl, R.sup.2 is --O.sup.- M.sup.+, where M.sup.+ is one equivalent of a cation, with an atomic weight of less than 138, of the main groups 1 to 3 of the Periodic Table, R.sup.3 is a methyl, methoxy, chloro or methyl thio substituted phenyl or naphthyl and X is O.
- 5. An acylphosphine compound as set forth in claim 2 wherein the ammonium ion is selected from the group consisting of ammonium, triethylammonium, tributylammonium, methyldiethanolammonium, anilinium, N,N-dimethylanilinium, .beta.-acryloxyethyldiethylammonium, .beta.-acryloxyethyldiethylammonium and N-(.beta.-hydroxyethyl)-morpholinium.
- 6. An acylphosphine compound of the formula I as defined in claim 1, wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, sec.-butyl, isobutyl, t-butyl, amyl, n-hexyl, vinyl, 2-methylvinyl, prop-2-enyl, 2-dimethylaminoethyl, 3-dimethylaminopropyl, cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl, phenyl, halogen-substituted phenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl substituted phenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4-alkoxy-substituted phenyl.
