Claims
- 1. An adhesive-edge panel comprising:
a building panel comprising a front surface, a back surface, and a plurality of edges, an adhesive applied to the front surface of the panel, adjacent to an edge of the panel, and a release liner laminated to the adhesive.
- 2. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the building panel is fiber cement.
- 3. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 2, wherein the panel is about 4′ by about 8′.
- 4. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 2, wherein the panel is from about {fraction (3/16)}″ to about 2″ thick.
- 5. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is from about 0.001″ to about 0.04″ thick.
- 6. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, further comprising a second adhesive applied to the building panel adjacent to the first adhesive.
- 7. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- 8. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is selected from the group consisting of adhesives based on polyacrylate, polyvinyl ether, rubber, isoprene, polychloroprene, butyl rubber, neoprene rubber, ethylene propylene diene rubber, polyisobutylene, butadiene-acrylonitrile polymer, thermoplastic elastomers, styrene-butadiene polymer, poly-alpha-olefin, amorphous polyolefin, silicone, ethylene-containing copolymer, polyurethane, polyamide, epoxy, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyvinylpyrrolidone copolymers, polyesters, styrene-isoprene-styrene block-copolymer, copolymers thereof, and mixtures thereof.
- 9. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 8, wherein the adhesive is a styrene-isoprene-styrene block-copolymer adhesive.
- 10. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 8, wherein the adhesive is a styrene-butadiene polymer adhesive.
- 11. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 8, wherein the adhesive is a butyl rubber adhesive.
- 12. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel by a method selected from the group consisting of solvent coating, extrusion separately from the building panel, extrusion simultaneously with the building panel, hot melt coating, calendaring, curtain coating, gravure coating, pattern coating, spray coating, lamination, pressure-feed die-coating, knife coating, and roller coating.
- 13. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel in a continuous layer.
- 14. The adhesive-edge panel of claim 1, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel in a discontinuous layer.
- 15. A method of manufacturing an adhesive-edge panel comprising
applying an adhesive to a front surface of a building panel, adjacent to an edge of the panel, and laminating a release liner to the adhesive.
- 16. The method of claim 15, wherein the building panel is fiber cement.
- 17. The method of claim 16, wherein the panel is about 4′ by about 8′.
- 18. The method of claim 16, wherein the panel is from about {fraction (3/16)}″ to about 2″ thick.
- 19. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is from about 0.001″ to about 0.04″ thick.
- 20. The method of claim 15, further comprising a second adhesive applied to the building panel adjacent to the first adhesive.
- 21. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- 22. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is selected from the group consisting of adhesives based on polyacrylate, polyvinyl ether, rubber, isoprene, polychloroprene, butyl rubber, neoprene rubber, ethylene propylene diene rubber, polyisobutylene, butadiene-acrylonitrile polymer, thermoplastic elastomers, styrene-butadiene polymer, poly-alpha-olefin, amorphous polyolefin, silicone, ethylene-containing copolymer, polyurethane, polyamide, epoxy, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyvinylpyrrolidone copolymers, polyesters, styrene-isoprene-styrene block-copolymer, copolymers thereof, and mixtures thereof.
- 23. The method of claim 22, wherein the adhesive is a styrene-isoprene-styrene block-copolymer adhesive.
- 24. The method of claim 22, wherein the adhesive is a styrene-butadiene polymer adhesive.
- 25. The method of claim 22, wherein the adhesive is a butyl rubber adhesive.
- 26. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel by a method selected from the group consisting of solvent coating, extrusion separately from the building panel, extrusion simultaneously with the building panel, hot melt coating, calendaring, curtain coating, gravure coating, pattern coating, spray coating, lamination, pressure-feed die-coating, knife coating, and roller coating.
- 27. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel in a continuous layer.
- 28. The method of claim 15, wherein the adhesive is applied to the building panel in a discontinuous layer.
