Claims
- 1. .alpha.-Glucosyl hesperidin which is hydrolyzable by .alpha.-glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.20) into a mixture consisting of hesperidin and D-glucose residue(s).
- 2. Food and beverages, which contain an effective amount of an .alpha.-glucosyl hesperidin.
- 3. The foods and beverages of claim 2, which additionally contain vitamin C.
- 4. In a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and hesperidin as an effective ingredient, the improvement comprising said hesperidin being an .alpha.-glucosyl hesperidin which is hydrolyzable in vivo by .alpha.-glucosidase (EC 3.2.1.20) to exhibit the physiological activities inherent to hesperidin, whereby the water solubility, light resistance and stability of said pharmaceutical composition are improved.
- 5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 4, which additionally contains vitamin C.
- 6. A cosmetic composition which contains as the effective ingredient an effective amount of an .alpha.-glucosyl hesperidin.
- 7. The cosmetic composition of claim 6, which additionally contains vitamin C.
