Claims
- 1. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide is identical to SEQ ID NO:1, except that, over the entire length corresponding to SEQ ID NO:1, n.sub.n nucleotides are substituted, inserted or deleted, wherein n.sub.n satisfies the following expression
- n.sub.n .ltoreq.x.sub.n -(x.sub.n .multidot.y)
- wherein x.sub.n is the total number of nucleotides in SEQ ID NO:1, y is at least 0.99, and wherein any non-integer product of x.sub.n and y is rounded down to the nearest integer before subtracting the product from x.sub.n.
- 2. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 1.
- 3. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 2.
- 4. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide comprises SEQ ID NO:1.
- 5. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 4.
- 6. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 5.
- 7. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising the step of culturing the host cell of claim 6 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide is encoded by the first polynucleotide.
- 8. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 4 encoding a fusion polypeptide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes part of the fusion polypeptide.
- 9. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes the same polypeptide, expressed by the ratB gene contained in Streptococcus pneumoniae 0100993 contained in NCIMB Deposit No. 40794.
- 10. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 9 encoding a fusion polypeptide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes part of the fusion polypeptide.
- 11. An isolated polynucleotide, comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide hybridizes to the full complement of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the hybridization conditions include incubation at 42.degree. C. in a solution comprising: 50% formamide, 5.times.SSC (150 mM NaCl, 15 mM trisodium citrate), 50 mM sodium phosphate (pH7.6), 5.times.Denhardt's solution, 10% dextran sulfate, and 20 micrograms/ml denatured, sheared salmon sperm DNA, followed by washing in 0.1.times.SSC at 65.degree. C.; and, wherein the first polynucleotide is identical to SEQ ID NO:1, except that, over the entire length corresponding to SEQ ID NO:1, n.sub.n nucleotides are substituted, inserted or deleted, wherein n.sub.n satisfies the following expression
- n.sub.n .ltoreq.x.sub.n -(x.sub.n .multidot.y)
- wherein x.sub.n is the total number of nucleotides in SEQ ID NO:1, y is at least 0.99, and wherein any non-integer product of x.sub.n and y is rounded down to the nearest integer before subtracting the product from x.sub.n.
- 12. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2.
- 13. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 12.
- 14. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 13.
- 15. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising the step of culturing the host cell of claim 14 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide is encoded by the first polynucleotide.
- 16. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 12 encoding a fusion polypeptide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes part of the fusion polypeptide.
- 17. An isolated polynucleotide comprising a first polynucleotide or the full complement of the entire length of the first polynucleotide, wherein the first polynucleotide encodes a polypeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2.
- 18. A vector comprising the isolated polynucleotide of claim 17.
- 19. An isolated host cell comprising the vector of claim 18.
- 20. A process for producing a polypeptide comprising the step of culturing the host cell of claim 19 under conditions sufficient for the production of the polypeptide, wherein the polypeptide is encoded by the first polynucleotide.
